      Thanks! The DX7 is currently on a rack above the Juno. It’s visible in some my other videos. I normally use my MoDX7 as a MIDI controller for it. Which might be a little redundant, considering the MoDX7 engine is equivalent to having multiple DX7s.

      You know what’s dope? They used a Yamaha FM chip for the music and sound effects in the Sega Genesis system. That chip is basically a 6 voice, 4 operator Yamaha DX7. Sega had great jams. Michael Jackson wrote the soundtrack for Sonic 3.

    Hey I was curious about your workflow. For example, Did you lay down a percussion track and throw a pad across that and improvise on top of it ? Just curious.

    • @themurph
      @themurph  Před 2 lety +3

      I change it up often, to keep fresh. But yes, I usually lay a very basic drum track, then a bass line. Then I add chords, pads, leads, go back and build on the drums, etc

    is he switching octaves for some of those dope licks? looks like he's hitting a button on the left that making the chord go up / down?

    • @themurph
      @themurph  Před 2 lety +1

      The button is the manual LFO trigger. It’s programmed so when I hit that button it gives the notes a vibrato effect. The chord going up (+2 steps) is done with the pitch bender stick. Thanks for watching!

      @nobbystyles4807 Před 2 lety +1

      @@themurph amazing work thanks. sounds just like those early break dance riffs. ive been trying to do an accurate recreation of the smurf but have never pulled it off cos i cant hit those vibrato / key changes at the exact same time, im guessing this is exactly how it was done. thanks man!!
