I really needed to hear the bit during Get Real where you talked about being a death bed thinker. I've never been out of the country and always wanted to go to Spain. I thought I had a friend to go with me this fall but she dropped out and I have to make the booking by tomorrow to get the discounted rate. I'm super scared to go alone, but I know I'll regret it if I don't. Loved hearing your perspective on putting yourself out there!
You've got this! My first time on a plane was last year to go to Spain and I went alone and it was terrifying. But you couldn't be in a safer place and everyone there is so kind!

Here's some advice for Caroline (even though she didn't call to ask herself) don't try to date your co-worker. I know they may be the best, you may be great friends outside of work, but it's just so unlikely to end well.
This kind of emplyment in-dating, especially at a bar, is just inviting the kind of drama that impacts your livelihood and your personal life. Where are you going to turn when the relationship goes south? Also propositioning your co-worker more than once is sexual harassment. Just no. Please no.

mile’s view of empathy makes me feel rly validated as an autistic person. i’m the “annoying devil’s advocate” when it comes to complaining sessions with my friends, so it’s rly nice to hear this kind of communication be normalized and encouraged by an allistic person. i’m always telling my friends that i listen to this podcast to get a glimpse of “neurotypical culture” LOL, but it’s surprisingly been a rly safe space for me and all my neurodiveristies. thank you miles for being such a welcoming presence!
it’s been helpful for my empathy the other way around too! i have a hard time empathizing with certain social problems, but hearing all these different layers that other ppl apparently experience has rly opened my eyes to navigating these situations. who says the perfect person pod isn’t educational?
