excellent.....better have another look at "Gone".......Frankie Ford was a superb entertainer ...hardly known in UK but for "Sea Cruise" and "Alimony",the latter a Sue 45 very popular in the 60s mod clubs.
What a great talent, the Liberace of Rock, great, great voice, his version of Gone is practically opera meets Country Rock. Check him out on 1999's Rock and Roll Graffiti, he does Gone, and Sea Cruise. Such a great, great loss.
Sat with Frankie at the Surf Ballroon in Clear Lake. What a great. We had a few beers until the ballroom lady in charge through us out for no reason. She was very mean. Frankie was a great guy. RIP Frankie from a friend.
We played this with him at an event in Ticono, Switzerland at a posh resort above Lake Lugano. He was SUCH a hoot! WE were laughing too hard to play almost! The police arrived and he wooed them too! GREAT ARTIST!

Best remembered from Any Which You Can w/Clint Eastwood & Sondra Locke, Fats Domino on Pye-Anna!-lol
I knew him by sound only. I never knew he was a white guy. He had that sound of the southern flavor in his voice. I just today saw a pic of him.
