It's up to us to seak treatment while making dua to Allah. We tie our camel while putting trust in Allah. Most if us were wrongly disciplined by out parents because they need healing from their own trauma pain. Because iyf that emotional pain they have alot of resentment and hate inside. When children misbehave which every child will, the parents take out their frustrations yin their children to feel better, then later they come to them asking for forgiveness. Yelling and hitting the children, that is not called discipline, it's called abuse. And Allah doesn't like anyone abusing anyone. Before anyone gets married they should seek psychotherapy and heal from their traumas especially the childhood one which we all have but deny.

but the fact that the struggles you have even with your own family is a test itself, every hardship (no matter the size or situation) is taken into consideration by Allah, Your reward is with Him.
also, even tho its hard to remember, parents and teachers are also human, they had their own problems which led them to be this way; it doesnt excuse what they did was wrong tho but you trying to empathise is always rewarding and helps with patience.

The Quran is so powerful. 3-4 years ago, I was divorced and not a really good Muslim. Once in a while I would go to Jumaa prayer, I would stand in congregation and as the Imam recites, Tears would just roll down. It was crazy because, I would never cry outside the masjid. Fast forward to now and I am in such a better place. Alhamdulilah, Allah knows best and He knows what’s best for you. My suggestion for any young person struggling with anxiety or depression is to Read. Read the Quran, read self help book about the human mind, the world around you, about finance, about politics. The more you read, the more you learn, the less anxious you get. The less depressed you will be. Remember the first words revealed to Prophet Mohammed PBUH “read.. read.. in the name of your lord, and your lord most merciful. Who teaches by the pen.. Teaches man what he knows not.”

3 years ago I remember the time I went through on my own. I was very ill. But unfortunately my illness was invisible. I was suffering everyday. I’ve been suffering with illnesses all my life but its all invisible so no one knows. I would come back home from school, sleep for a while and head to the hospital. Then spend hours there. This went on for so long I cant even remember. The next morning I would go to school with a different personality, acting like all was okay with me but it was so suffocating to see everyone healthy and happy and cheerful and full of energy and then there’s you.. suffering internally. When I looked at the comments I realized I was never alone. All of us have our part of suffering. Those times drained the energy out of me and continue to do so. I feel helpless most days but I know Allah is merciful. Even if we don’t see the fruits of our sufferings in this life, I just want everyone here to know that things will be way better in the hereafter In Sha Allah. I make dua to Allah to heal our hearts and grant us patience to go through that which we are bound to be tested with. Stay strong everyone and hold on. ❤️

I do have to say my confidence has been shaken since I was a kid because my dad would point out anything wrong I did. Not just that but other events have made me always self aware and feel as if I can’t do certain things because I’ll do it wrong then get scolded or it’ll be pointed out. Unfortunately a lot of parents don’t understand that and it does psychologically affect a child even in their future.

    Depression is a serious illness
    I'm religious. I'm a convert to Islam since July 26, 2010
Some of my depression comes from being cut off by my family after my mom past away in 2016 They showed their true colors.
I'm American and I am treated like a foreigner in Mosques in USA. I have 2 apartments overseas in North Africa and Middle East and I am treated like a brother. Sadly I had to leave my country & go 7,000 miles away to be accepted.
Also my depression comes from chronic & acute pain by having 20 plus surgeries, replaced ankles and knee etc etc etc.. I'm only 41.
Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah for everything. My depression comes & goes but it is an illness that I well do my best to overcome Insha'Allah

So I got depressed few months back, It got severe I had no one to share things, things going around me worsened it, then After a point I stopped believing in Allah, I lost all hopes, Felt suicidal, but I was hyper @ times, open to negativity, I lost a thing I loved Again, Things were OK, had time time but lost it, Now regretting for losing that thing which had so many dreams for it! why? Coz I lost belief in Allah so my thoughts were messed stuck days back, so my advice is Just have faith in Allah no matter what, When you are doing something Do you part/ take a proper direct action & Just leave to Allah with faith, Inshallah everything will be aligned for u!

The stigma and secrecy associated with mental health really prevent patients from getting the help they need. Yes, bouts of depression and anxiety can be triggered or exacerbated by traumatic events, but they can be hereditary too. We don't question the faith of someone with diabetes or high blood pressure, so why is depression different? If my brain cannot produce the required amount of hormones to keep me healthy, iman has nothing to do with it. Depression isn't about sitting round moping because you're feeling sorry for yourself, it;s so much more complicated than that. The exhaustion that you can have is debilitating. So please tread carefully if you know anyone who is living with it.

Do other righteous deeds like fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, three days a month, the days of Muharram (best month to fast after Ramadan and one of the four holy months)
    Giving sadaqah
Memorising and saying your adhkar after Salah, morning, evening and before sleeping.
    Praying for forgiveness

That "Islamic public figure"s story is exactly the same with mine, it's driving me crazy. I tought of suicide a lot although i know it's wrong. My biggest fear nowdays, is that one day i would lose my Iman and take my own life. It's hard to get help in my country where awareness about mental health is very low, (malaysia). I really hope you help that guy, i know his pain very well. Solat and Doa helps a lot and i really mean it, but it just kept coming back. Sometimes i cried in my Solat because im just extremely tired of living. I never blame Allah, because i know everything He has written for me is for my own good, im really afraid i failed His test. Please help him as best you can.

Only to find my remedy in reading not listening, but reading the ruqiya alshariya. I didn't realize that depression could be caused from someone giving you the evil eye out of envy or whatever and they could be your friends and good people too but they see something in you they lack, so they give you the evil eye unnoticing. I hope this helps insha'Allah

Depression makes you feel so low as if all your energy is taken out. It's strange feeling.
Mental illness starts in childhood when you don't have control on your thoughts.
If your child is growing up please be kind to him and love him /her. Don't torture him emotionally. Take responsibility of his stuff and don't criticize him. Give them the love they need.
If you are a grown up child be kind to your parents. They love you and if they are rude sometimes , it is because they want you to be successful so don't shout in front of them. Be Kind to them. Teach them with kindness. Once they see your love they will love you immensely back. I mean they are your parents. God chose them for you and He is all knowing. Bear with patience whenever they say rude things to you and Ask God to make it easy for you and for them. If you are patient with your parents Allah will reward you with so much not just in the hereafter but in this life as well.
Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and do good to parents. If any one of them or both of them reach old age, do not say to them: uff (a word or expression of anger or contempt) and do not scold them, and address them with respectful words,And be humble with them out of mercy, and pray, “My Lord! Be merciful to them as they raised me when I was young.”( Quran )

Happiness indeed isn't real. It's our brain forcing us to do things necessary for our survival by making them feel pleasurable for a short period. Food, water, reproduction, we only do those things because they feel good and they make us live further in life. If our brain didn't make up the sense of taste, smell or touch, most of us would be hanging from the ceiling. This is the qadr of Allah s.w.t. He made us see those few glimpses of happiness only to motivate us for jannah, because we're literally biologically on this world only to strive and reproduce, and not lay down and enjoy.

I am one of those who suffered from my father's methods of upbringing and behaviour. He called himself Sheikh yet his attitude was far from it. I actually had a post on Facebook at some point addressing this struggle.. the fact that I feel obligated culturally and religiously to address my father with respect but yet I have to take on his abuse and mental bullying. Us the kids mostly took the method of stay away from him to save our sanity but he goes around telling people that we followed the path of Shaitan and he only wanted us to follow the path of God.
What is worse than that is when I get approached by people that I don't know only to tell me that I need to look after my father .. it is a religious obligation no matter how bad he is and I need to be patient.
For me, ok, I am likely to make it to heaven doing that but I will surely make it there crazy!
I am not even going to address the damage that we have inside us and how much physical or mental harm he caused to us and our mother.

      One Salafi said:
*Do not wish for death, because one hour spent in seeking Allah's forgiveness is better than death for eternity*
There was a story about two people who accepted Islam at the same time during prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s time. One of them died not long after converting in a battle, therefore a martyr. The other man lived one more year until dying. Muhammad s.a.w.s said that he saw the man who lived one year longer enter paradise first, then the Martyr entered behind him. Why? Because of all the days he fasted in Ramadan and prayers he preformed. Allah s.w.t knows that existing is painful, but the reward for pushing trough this uncomfortable world is truly great. Imagine entering jannah first, then a martyr enters behind you, only because you lived one year longer. That's how much Allah appreciates being patient. Struggle and strive in his path, and mark my words *You will not regret one second of it.*

I am born Christian, but it is failing in my country, after studying many aspects of islam, i find it very uplifting, even as a woman. Islam really is beutiful. I had a horrible childhood, sexual, and emotional abuse, which is forbidden in islam. My mental health has improved so much. I think i will convert, if my return to orthodoxy hasn't worked out. Do the people think that they will be left to say, "We believe" and they will not be tried?
But We have certainly tried those before them, and Allah will surely make evident those who are truthful, and He will surely make evident the liars. Or do those who do evil deeds think they can outrun Us? Evil is what they judge. Whoever should hope for the meeting with Allah - indeed, the term decreed by Allah is coming. And He is the Hearing, the Knowing. And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do.
