Yeah, it’s a server issue. The Japanese server downgraded their servers in hopes to “fix” the issues but both their old server, as well as the new one just can’t deal with the influx of players and constant new features. This is why they’ve suspended Cheerful Carnivals twice this year.

I haven’t been able to play PJSK at all w/o it lagging at all.. LIKE I COULD NOT EVEN CLEAR ONE SHOW TODAY W/O A SINGLE LAG SPIKE..
disable "dim flashing lights" in settings lmao
for some reason it disables the display’s emergency cooling mechanism and this setting actually adds a pretty unstable post-process pass which decreases performance while increasing heat
the other thing to disable if you have faceid is the "screen distance" since it checks for your face’s distance every 5 minutes which haggles resources
just a quick tip that might solve some people’s stuttering problem on the client side that might work
i think i can try to theorize why skills have a chance to freeze the frame
1. they used sync instead of async calls for sending the request to activate a skill to the server
basically:
sync --• --
async ----
•
sync just waits while async spawns a different thread that’s specifically waiting for the verification ping from the server

I have that disabled in JP. Tap effects are in the low setting and the same thing with their fever effect. These settings are not yet available in EN but what I can control is off. The iPad also doesn't have face ID.
The server ran so much smoother in 2021 and 2022. Late last year is when the issues really started to affect gameplay and it's the only rhythm game where I experience lags like this.

they fixed the code’s garbage collector which frees up unused assets from memory to fix the out-of-memory crashes but now they need to fix the synced calls since the skills’ image needs to be loaded again
@@randomfurrymanintheinternet yes! I’ve cleared my cache recently too in hope that it would run smoother but yeah, they really need to invest resources into maintaining the server for the amount of active players.
they better fix this soon, i dont want to have these lag issues when tiering........
I hope so! Honestly it’s getting really annoying to deal with. All my other rhythm games are just fine with little to no lags at all. I think they’re rolling out too many things at once and their servers can’t handle the updates and keeping up with all the influx of new players.
Lag is one of the reasons why I barely play expert lol

I never had such bad lags. I also heard that Sekai doesn't do well on IOS. Maybe that's the issue.
Once upon a time the game run so smooth even if you played with a 3DMV. I think the game grew in popularity too quick and Sega didn’t make the necessary adjustments to accommodate for that. 😩 They kept rolling out new features instead of fixing the issues.

Bro I play on an Iphone 13 and its insane fr especially if youre playing cheerful shows ESPECIALLY ranked I rage sm. For me its similiar like on the video but like it freezes for a sec and then 1-2 fps you can see some notes fall and by the time its back to normal I have no life 👍

A year ago, when update 2.7.0 was released for the Japanese version of the game, the game started to lag terribly, and the developers released update 2.7.1 on the 11th of July, and this fixed the problem, so I hope that this update will be on the global as well, also I think that the global server needs to update its servers, since this is also may be a problem due to the increase in the number of new players and addition of new features
Yeah, both servers have been failing to make the necessary upgrades to sustain the new influx of players. They keep rolling out so much newness and forget to make improvements to make the gameplay run smoother.

The lags are killing me. 😭 it makes me wish when there were less Project Sekai players. The game used to run so smoothly.
Idk Why After JP 6 GB Update It Became Much More Laggy. For Me Its Lagging First Then I Cannot Tap The Notes:D
I've heard that before! Thankfully I can still tap the notes but even when playing solo I get lags. Before it only used to happen when playing co-op with the 3DMV on.

Yes 🥲 all my other rhythm games have minimal or no lags. Sega has acknowledged that these server issues are on their end.
That's a literally just device/storage issue, lmao. The game runs smoothly for me. Don't blame everything immediately on the game.
"the game runs smoothly for me" have you considered that maybe if the majority of players experience some form of lag while playing the game that maybe (just maybe) it might be the game's fault? Not everyone has the latest and greatest smartphone you know, so maybe stop being a dick
Sega has already canceled Cheerful Carnival twice this year alone in JP because of issues players were having. They even downgraded their server in hopes that the old Unity server could “fix” the issues and that didn’t happen. They just suspended and released another statement acknowledging the server issues. I spoke about that in the my first video in this channel.
