This channel is like Mr. Roger's Neighborhood for retro computing. I hope you all realize how special that is. All my love!
That is a magical compliment and we take it very much to heart. Thank you 🙏
@@RetroRecipes Indeed!... And like Mr. Roger's Neighbourhood... We are all fully engaged with you... And absolutely not with Ladyfractic at all.. This is so wholesome!
Anytime I'm feeling a bit down, I just pop on any of your videos and it absolutely brightens my day. Thank you both
That means the world to us
Well, Cool! I'd actually forgotten about sending in the video. What a fun surprise.
The computers all got donated to members of the TRS-80 Facebook group, so they are all living their best restored lives out there in the retro-enthusiast world!
There were a couple of CoCos (a 1 and a 3) that I didn't show in the video because I want to restore them myself. I'll let you know if they turn out worth seeing.
Thanks for including my Grandpa's collection!
Rest in peace Grandpa Miner (the original G Minor) and thank you for sharing his wonderful collection Al ❤️
These keep getting better he better! “Gozer The Gozarian”. You guys crack me up!
Cheers Tom! The donations seem to keep getting better too 😉😉
You know what last night's roll play was
Could Ladyfractic please do a cosplay segment wearing the Gozer costume? It will make for a flurry, or perhaps even daresay an orgy of new subs?
Crap! Now I can't unsee this!
Aim for the flat top!
I'm sorry I had to write this all over again but you know what?
With all the serious bad news going around I'm not ashamed today to indulge in some wholesome, nostalgic and feelgood content from simply the smoothest voices & some of the warmest people in the game!
Sincerely; *Thanks for these 25 minutes, awesomefractics!*
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
What type of computer monitor you use in the video can i buy it on Ebay for commodore a500 computer stuff please let me know thanks.
Out of all of the stupendous content you motley fractics create, The Retro Show is by far the tops for me. The theme song starts and I’m instantly transported to happy town. Cheers
That’s so nice thank you!!
I’d like to say how much I enjoy Retro Recipes. It’s so much fun, so funny and always fair. Although I’m limited by chronic illness and disability (severe ME/CFS), you offer so much I can enjoy, Perifractic and Ladyfractic. Thank you. Greetings from the UK!
Thank you for your kind words and support! Means a lot 👍🕹️ Glad we can offer you more enjoyment ❤️
@@RetroRecipes No problem! Thank you for replying. I mustn’t forget the four-legged ’Fractics either. :)
Great to hear about the VIC-II! The ping pong paddle was also amazing. And this was my first time seeing your wife, she is absolutely adorable! (even if she's American) Best wishes to all of you.
Ahhhh seeing all my sticks-of-joy suddenly pop up on your show was a fantastic surprise. Coincidently I got your Manic Miner reference because just last week I repaired my old Atari cartridge of "Manic Miner 2049er" - it's a great game - Pacman meets Donkey Kon - yay! Great show as always.
Nice!!!
Miner 2049er was my sister's favorite back in the day!
I started with a CPM computer as my first home computer. I am glad to see people keeping the old hardware and software. The dogs are cute, and the host is ( somewhat) funny. It is the Lady which bring elegance grace and beauty to the show (Yes, Gents, A Fox, and a much married one) Thank you both and God bless you all.
I had Mission Impossible on my Commodore 128, but it took so long to load that I only ran it once. That slow loading is a much more distinct memory than the game itself.
I remember tape loading level 9 adventure games on my BBC micro. They took a few minutes to load but while doing so played vivaldi four seasons in very respectable quality. I was hugely impressed.
Cool, a new ЯRetro Show to complete my Saturday morning
Yay!
Gotta ask how to you do that backwards R?
@@JohnSmith-xq1pz You don't necessarily even have to know how to do it directly. I just did this just by copying and pasting:

Just got home from work and here's a new Retro Recipes Retro Show waiting for me. Perfect!
YALL should be internationally syndicated everywhere. Best show on TV, wait on CZcams!! Always so entertaining!! Best show!! YEAH!!
Wow thanks! Maybe History channel?!
Fun episode as always guys! Love it!!! I had that piece of music from Cybernoid II stuck in my head for a few years now, and THIS RECIPODE finally tells me where it came from, cheers for that!
0:36 Aww! In Ghostbusters: Fracticlife, Gozer (played by Ladyfractic) asks Ray (played by Perifractic) to choose the form of the Destructor. Thinking of something harmless from his childhood, he chooses. “I couldn’t help it,” he says. In the distance, we see something huge making its way through the streets… In his words, “It’s the Commodore 64”, as it roars in a SID voice. :D
And the Oscar goes to!
@@RetroRecipes … the Commodore 64 - for its PLASTIC (not wooden) acting. (I’ll get off the stage now!)
15:54 Adrian in da house!!!!
Your videos are just so pure and special, and often help me through phases of depression. Thank you so much, don't ever change
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
"Pretty Cute Bunny"! I don't know why WE didn't think of that! 🤣 Little Ladyfractic loved her appearance (well, we did too). Your comments were simply hilarious and fun! Thank you!
That new Vic chip was amazing! Looks like we have a 21st century replacement path that takes care of just about everything on everyone's wish list! FPGA too? Nice!
That Knight to the Future mash-up car was really cool. It would be great if David Hasselhoff, M J Fox and Christopher Lloyd (along with William Daniels, of course) could do a short for charity (and for us fans) that puts this all into one "fan"-tastic film. That would be better than 3 Spidermen!
Love to the RR-Family! Talk soon... have a Retro-tastic weekend, Peri!
Now there’s a mashup movie I’d love to watch! Never say never…
Big thanks to you and Little Ladyfractic for the cute segment! No pressure but she’s always welcome to make an appearance if you wanted to make it a monthly thing. Also I’d love a version of that recording without the audio effects so I can use “Back to you Perifractic!” as a transition segment in future videos. ☺️ PS Hope BUNNY! is okay now
@@RetroRecipes Your wish is my command, sir! I’ll get the video sans effects done ASAP for you. (BTW, I already have an idea for her next video… stay turned!) Would you like me to send the bunny video to you the submission way? Or I can send it to you via File Mail. PM me a good email if you’d like to receive it via FileMail.
@@GAMECLOSET awesome! Let’s go with fleamail from now on! 👍🕹️
@@RetroRecipes I like the way you think! 🎸😎
Thank you for the nice comments about the Kitt-Delorean mash up I made Game Closet ☺️👍
Love love love your channel so wholesome. I'm 50 soon and I love watching your shows with all the old computers and that. When I see you have dropped a new episode I get the same feelings I used to get waiting for a Games Master to come on back in the 90s with Dominic Diamond. God I loved that show now we have your Channel to look forward to. Thank you both for bringing back to me memories and feeling that I had when I was a lad back in the 80s and 90s. My first computer was a ZX Spectrum 48k and my friend had a Vic 20 and my other friend had a Commodore 64. You can imagine the chat back n forth in the school yard on who had the best system. Lol. Thanks again you two.
That’s so nice to hear. Thanks for watching!
Great round-up and as ever retro-tastically enjoyable! Love it.
You guys DO make the world a little happier! =D You do a great job. LOVE your channel.

Interesting video and a lovely looking couple. The dogs are very cute. I like the thought bubbles of the pooches, very funny.
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
For a moment I thought Ashley was going to make her return to the channel.
Wonderful nostalgic loveliness. Just what we needed
Beautiful episode from both of you. Great work and lovely to see your channel continuing on at full pelt.
Thanks Michael!
Nostalgia and retro are great fuel these days for the heart and laughter is the best medicine of all.
"We do hope what we do here makes a tiny impact..." It does, and, it does make the world a happier place. I know it's always one of my highlights when I check here on the weekends and find a new video. So, thank you to you and all of the Fractic Family, as always - for giving us such fun and insightful shows, and taking us along on the retro rides.
Thank you for saying that. It means a lot to us to know this.
@@RetroRecipes You're welcome. And you and LadyFractic and the puppies mean a lot to us with what you do here.
the Commodore Vic-20 was my first computer
Was smiling throughout this episode, loved it!
I absolutely LOVE your humor!
Thanks!! Finally someone does.
“Mass debate!” Are you trying to compete with Mark Fixes Stuff for the title of Innuendo Champ? 😂😂.
Got a double laugh from me. Gozer the Gozerian; and then she put tape on your mouth for that. Love your humor.
Great show, small error: the Altair 8800 is not the first microcomputer or the first marketed microcomputer.
The first one is… French: the Micral, released in 1973 by Réalisation d'Études Électroniques (R2E). Based on the Intel 8008, it was the first non-kit computer based on a microprocessor.
Okay, but that isn’t quite what I said.
The best person on this channel is obviously Puppyfractic.
That Atari tennis thing is awesome
I needed some hard boiled eggs for potato salad. I didn't cook them long enough and the yolks were slightly undercooked. So, since the eggs were going to be diced anyway, I took out the yolks, put them in a bowl, and put them in a microwave. Cooking tip: undercooked egg yolks explode in microwaves.
Good to see the VIC-II chip replacement is a thing that exists now. Hopefully they will find the resources to start making them, I will definitely grab a few.
oh yummy drama at 17:42 :
PeriF: "...aka the'Byte-Attic' "
LadyF: chuckles
PeriF: "now this reminds me very much of..."
LadyF: "...the Commander x16"
PeriF: sneers condescendingly and says: "basically a big blue PCB"
outch! lol
I'm really exited for the CX16 project and I wish I could get the case Peri designed, I like it a lot
Just purchased a semi working TRS Model 4p for $120. Monitor is great turns on. Though I think the drives are not aligned. But in great cosmetic condition. Hey. I also made a few shelf dedicated to my retro computers, drives, retro pda's. Nice job
Time spent with you lovely people and canines, is time well spent. :)
About vaccum cleaners: I'll goo for a VAX vaccuum cleaner, multi user, multitasking and more powerful, of course. The Commodore vacuum cleaner goes in par with Telefunken LPG ovens. The real Telefunken made magnetron, so I coluld undersand a microwave oven, but a gas oven????
Thank you. I love your show :)

Luckily my doggo is way smaller and lighter, but keep on the good job, I learn a lot every time from you ^^
Oh so many dad jokes and am here for it haha even LadyFractic is doing it now so am calling it now PuppyFractic 2 and 3 will be doing them even more, always gives me a good laugh. Great show as always guys and that retro Altair 8800 is so good i need one. As always looking forward to the next one so until then have a great weekend and take care. Lovely seeing PuppyFractic the 1st as well.
OK there was at least a time (maybe two) where LadyFractic needed to be "duct-taped up" like how Perifractic was at the beginning! Very cute you two, Well Done, and a another Recipode in the books!
Thank you for the fun show 👍👍
Just to point out the years of a millennial 1981 - 1996... I was born in 1983 and disks were still a big thing threw-out the 80 and still somewhat into the 90s so being born in the beginning part of being a millennial I would still know the magnet thing which also left a black mark on some CRTs back in the day. I also grew up in an error where we had mouse balls, lol. Just thought I'll be the annoying one in the comments that pointed out Semantics, your welcome!
“Have a mass debate about this.”…I see what you did there! Anyway, it’s great to see someone’s making a VIC-II replacement. That’s one chip I don’t have any spares of for repairs. (BTW, what can successfully replace the 6526 CIA chips?)
Yeah I misspoke a little bit. I meant all the major chips that are rare now and prone to failure have been recreated. But not the CIA. Or the FBI.
@@RetroRecipes Western Design Center has a 6502 and 6522 (VIA, used in the 1541), but I don't know if they are drop-in compatible or require some adaptation wiring. Unfortunately they don't seem to make 6510 or 6526.
I was at an FX house in the late 90s. We used an SGI indigo as a doorstop.
LOL - no lack of tasty innuendo's keeping the recipode fresh! LOL love it! Thanks for sharing the cool FPGA project.... I will have to follow that one closely...
As for the mash up with K.I.T.T. and Doc Browns' time machine... I see a whole new mini-serise that could come from that..... Michael Knight, a lone man traveling through time and space.... maybe much like the T.A.R.D.I.S. and Dr Who..... Who knows???? LOL - Anyway keep up the amazing work! Cheers from Las Vegas NV.....
Cheers mate. Go make that series now!
That PiTair or ArduinoTair is so cool!
I still want to assemble a PiDP-11 but its a bit dear for some something that I eventually just use a few times. But those Altairs and PDP-11 remakes are so cool looking!
OMG that disk with the fridge magnet makes me think of our old cleaning lady (lovely lady, although she could nag like my mom when it came to my messy desk.)
She found 10-12 floppies on my desk, laid out on top of some blood analyses machines a pet scale and other veterinarian peripherals I was integrating into our management system.
So she figured: “that boy is such a messy fox!” (And she would be right). “Let’s show him what a clean desk will do for his mindset”.
So she figured she help me and cleaned my desk and she punch a hole through each of the disks. Wrapped a tie wrap through it and hung the from one of those metal brackets that you could hang shelfs on.
I came into work the next day finalizing the test update with these 10-12 5 1/4” disk update and I couldn’t find the disks. And my blood analysis machine, That literally weighed 25KG sat nicely on the scale and it was cleaned perfectly! But I was looking to find my bloody disks.
So I was saying to my colleagues that this wasn’t funny anymore and give them back because I needed to run 40 or so batches… and my colleague (one of the 7 owners) said: “found them! They are hanging there” right above your head”. Just above my eye level the neatly hung from the tiewrap loop 😂
And since she had nicely punctured the corner they all still worked! 🤣
She’s probably dead by now or very old but she was lovely. She always gave me such a hard time 🤣”Stop wearing tracksuit bottoms and a cap you’re not a teenager anymore!”
-“real men don’t drink tea!”
-“we used to have men made of steel and boats made of wood! Look at you whiny wimpy effers! Now we have men made out of wood and boats out of steel.”
I wonder what she would say about these millenial, men bun wearing, soy boys 🤣🤣🤣
Not only did they work but she’d converted them to double density with the hole punch! 🕳
@@RetroRecipes now these were already 1.2MB floppies it but I give Joke (Dutch name, no joke) an A for effort. She was an old ball buster but everybody liked her a lot. Some would call he rude but she was a straight shooter! And PC culture, was not something she was familiar with and the older I get the more I become like her 😂
Waiting for the Gozer/Ghostbuster cosplay! Perhaps an action scene where Gozer has stolen K.I.T.T., and the Ghostbusters are chasing her in ECTO-1. Special guest appearance by The Hoff!
The ALTAIR 8800 was a competitor of the IMSAI 8080 (wich was in Wargames movie)
"...in case you're watching this on April 1st." As a matter of fact, I am.😆
7:10 Lady does the reasonable thing instead of laughing and asks if the man is ok =P Perri loses his Sh!$ =P

Love The ЯRetro Show!
(Deja Vu) 5:39 LadyFractic is so right! This made me so mad when Snapple did the same thing. Snapple's slogan had always been "Made from the best stuff on Earth" Then about 10 years ago they made a similar change removing the HFCS and adjusted the slogan to saying "The Best stuff on Earth, just got better" As if using real sugar were some new concept and they had been oblivious to it the whole time. I don't care about Snapple, don't drink it. Just the fact they were allowed to make such claims and change them just rubbed me the wrong way.
Oh man, a VIC-II replacement is groovy by itself, but that image quality- oh, I want one so bad now. Thank you for putting this awesome little device on my radar!
This show is awesome, rock on!
It looks like they're not coming to production tho???
@@SixOThree Maybe not right away. The chip shortage won't last forever. I've waited a long time with my C64's already, so I can wait a little while more.

Oh my
I like the idea of a commodore robotic cleaner and you could connect it to your tv and play some games or send emails while not in use.
1:20 Impossible Mission was the second game I ever beat. The first was E.T. for Atari.
This episode showing those cool computer kits very nearly cost me about 550€ ... It still might.
16:06 is that an Amstrad PC1640 turbo XT? Did I miss that episode??? That machine was awesome. Mine had a 20MB hdd and 16 colours greyscale modded screen!

There was the VIC-II Kawari FPGA replacement, which Adrian Black covered a year ago. So this is not really the first one. Still, of course, very much appreciated you cover this option!
ok, i see it IS the kawari you have, so same's as Adrian :)
Correct, but this is the final version
Finally, I've found someone who has also heard The Rabbit Joint's cover of Legend of Zelda. None of my friend/coworkers/randos I accost on the street seem to know anything about it!
So if the makers of that vacuum cleaner could license the Commodore logo, then why not our friends from Retro Games?
Now it's saturday
This episode was very funny)
Well, first thing right off... I'd start hiding the duct tape. Another fantastic episode... it's so inspiring to see people interested in the 8-bit world, even those who didn't live through that era and it puzzles me what draws them in? Maybe it's because it IS so cool... I liked the little girl with the bunny, she was so cute... "Ahhhh.... Bunny!" LOL With creative editing, it brought that clip together very smartly... and with that... Cheerio!
LOL. Thank you for your comment. Little Harleyfractic was always asking me "when can I make MY video?" when I am about to film my host segments for my channel. She had a guest appearance in my Retro Recipes Tribute last year (and she was at the end of my Ghostbusters video too) and was begging for her own video. So... dad caved in and there ya go. HAHA! Take care!
@@GAMECLOSET Wow... I wasn't expecting a comment from you guys! Personally, I want to say how awesome that video clip was, it brightened my day as I'm sure it did to so many viewers, she's got huge potential and natural talent... and I'm sure you already knew that! Hey, maybe they'll make want to make more videos and feature it on this show? "Ahhh! Bunny!" LOL... that line cracked me up
@@raymitchell9736 LOL, thank you. Yeah, she’s amazingly funny for her age. (Her older brother has really good comedic timing too.) We’ll cook something up from time to time for Little Ladyfractic!
@@GAMECLOSET That sounds great... The other thing that was funny was the way she introduced her friend bunny with some vocal fry/gravel in her voice... there's something about seeing a soft fluffy stuffed animal and hearing that introduction that is also very funny... such a personality at a young age!
@@raymitchell9736 😂
A very high grade Retro Recipes and the submissions that you had are truly amazing. Especially the continued development of the video chip.
A very small nitpick however - using a monster (i.e. likely expensive) FPGA chip kind of defeats the ethos of simple 8 bit computing. But perhaps it's a necessary step to get there. But I also feel like that it's time Commodore step up to the plate with better open source of their materials lest they always remain in the realm of vacuum cleaners. Just sayin'.
21:30 See that beautiful thing right In the middle shelf?. That's a proper joystick.
Quickshot Maverick one.
Agreed!
Even though the Kawarii project has screeched to a halt, I'm still glad you were able to showcase it however briefly. I hope in inspires someone to delve into finding a more reliably reproducible solution.
I don’t think him currently sourcing a different FPGA for the final release really equates to “screeched to a halt” but what do I know 🤷🏻♂️
@@RetroRecipes well, I meant more that the project as originally designed has screeched to a halt, not so much that the effort was abandoned. I didn't mean to make him sound bad or anything, I promise!
@@natethefighter All good, I just wanted to clarify the current status 👍
True as a knight rider! Keep it up for more retro news…
Fricking Cybernoid II!
The Back to the future Delorean and K.I.T.T. was already done before, but reversed. It's the main car in the movie Ready Player One.
You’re right! I totally forgot it had a red scanner on the front!
The C64 can now be fully rebuilt from new parts? As someone who has a soft spot for the bread bin, this is amazing news.
Well to clarify, the most common failure points are now all recreated: SID, VIC, PLA 😊
I'm hoping he might make an ASIC of the Kawari, as Efabless and the Fossi Foundation make ASICs for free if your wiling to submit your design as open source. There are a lot of custom chips that I think could be potentially replaced this way
This show is far too well produced to only be seen by this many people!
Thank you for your kind words! Means a lot 👍🕹️
Another great video. ❤️ AIM FOR THE FLATTOP!
Wow, I haven't heard that Link song in a really long time. Wasn't there once a rumor, that it was performed by System of A Down?
That was the rumour but it was actually Joe Pleiman.
Oh my God, she does look like Gozer the Gozerian ! Which is a very good looking demon I must say 😅
Thank goodness she didn't ask "Are you a god?", otherwise it may have been a very short episode 😋
This was a delicious resipode :)
Gozer the Gozarian? :-) Someone's sleeping on the sofa tonight then...
Trying to make us 30 to early 40 year olds feel young i see :p sadly we had mice balls and floppys in the 80s & 90s too :D

Hidden BTTF reference via the name of Tom Wilson (or is he not that one?)? LOL. Also, PCB - Prefabricated Cleaning Bot - for the cleaner? And, every time the PCB section comes into play perhaps it now ought to be referred to as the 'PCB Wave'? (Doesn't it?). Just some thoughts, as always. LOL.
Haha PCB Wave! And no not the same Tom Wilson. Same with Tim Cook. Allegedly
