Sah, a bad roll on a single-shot/one-shot weapon is a curse in and of itself. Case in point: the hunter-killer missile.
Man, I take the hunter-killer because genuinely why not but then it's gotten to the point of "screw it, I guess we'll try the missile... Okay it missed, never mind."
But the one in a million hit with 6 damage is glorious. Deleted a Baal Predator off the table turn 1 with a leman Russ and a hunter killer from a nearby sentinel
I hear that! First four games I used the Ghosts, Larkin missed 9/10 shots easy. Get the bad ones out early I guess!
The first time I used it, I had him on the top floor of a building within my deployment zone. I didn't really hide him, just deployed him and left him. Turn 4 comes around and my Eldar opponent is feeling brave and pops his Farseer out. I took a shot, hit and then rolled a 6 to wound with the shield breaker and killed him outright. I don't know who was more surprised, me or my opponent. The psychological effect on having him on the table after that sometimes keeps my opponent being kind of cagey.
Vindicares and Farseers always seem to go together...
Please tell me you said 'Didn't Farsee that, did ya?'
Never tried him this edition. However, the one time I faced him he 1 shot Leontus on turn 1 and then I couldn’t order my tanks the rest of the game. I kinda forgot he existed during deployment, hence why he could see Leontus…. Never letting that happen again.
FYI my
Opponent did roll then6 for Dev so didn’t get invuln and I only had a 6+ FNP in the unit so… he died
@@DeathKorpsCommander-sm1um oooof. My condolensces.
@@DeathKorpsCommander-sm1um and this, sir, is exactly why I always bring a ogryn bodyguard with Leontus and crew. He's too valuable and too tempting of a target for precision attacks. With the bodyguard I've even managed to tank Mortarion with him. 4+++ is no joke.
Vindicare is super cool, and super average. He doesn't suck, but he also isn't all that exciting either. Great for friendly games.
I've only ever brought a vindicare once, in any of my games. It fired a single shot before it died, at morvenn vahl in a warsuit squad. I used shieldbreaker and rolled a 6. Passed the wound and Insta-detonated her in turn 1. Feelsgoodman
My Vindicare put in work back in 5th using daemonhunters codex allied with my guard
Man that old daemonhunters codex was rough before it got turned into the GK codex, more like custodes than the modern GK
He's sort of the John Wick of assassins. LOL
Guilty confession and I will repent to the emperor for my sins...love can bloom makes me love the vindicare assassins.
It comes down on how you employ/position him on the field. Since I mainly use a heavy mechanized army. Usually they are more focused on my tanks and transports than my vindicare that’s on my back lines. I use him to take out characters that are attached to units that give crazy buffs. If I can take those out then it’s worth it for me. But end of the day it’s what works best for the players.
Used him in 1 game... popped shieldbreaker shooting at trajan.. rolled 6 to hit, 6 to wound and 6 on the damage.... lol
If it got the buffs for the Firestorm Detachment I would run it as it would be pretty good to advance and shoot the pistol at plus 1 str and pop characters behind a line of my aggressors to protect the assassin from charges.
Another sufferer of the devastating wounds nerf. At least before they had the bonus of getting anti-horde from the possibility of MW. The rifle should have the multiple types of rounds available instead of multiple “just roll 6s” abilities
The exitus rifle can kill the big tech priests fairly well, unless they are in a kataphron/skitarii unit in their own deployment zone with the protector imperative active. Also when a save goes through it is a guaranteed kill.
I like the Vindicare he's great but he's not gonna work in an environment where its just LOS blocking ruins as far as the eye can see.
10th ed terrain hurts my brain and my baneblade cannon
@@burnthehighway6461 for alot of tournaments the terrain layouts are just them refusing to adapt from the nightmare that was 9th. But I get it, the organisers spent time and money on those ruins they're gonna make you use them.
@@josephrigley8974 yea I haven't played since 7th ed so it's all new and strange for me
That ability hurts my soul, Dice God's make sure it doesn't go off when I need it 😂
This guy has whiffed 4 times out of 6 on my necron crypteks lmao
I think part of why they are popular is, comparatively, they should be functional throughout the whole game. They are long range, and beyond a certain range, hard to target. If an enemy needs to come out, and move toward further objectives, they should make themselves vulnerable, and then lose an attached Apothecary, or synapse creature. Sure, it would be nice to have them kill Abaddon, or Leontus, but there's something to be said for sniping other, seemingly less important Leaders, and it's not like the Space Marines bring Lieutenants along just for fun.
More than that, though, as I said, they should remain functional for the whole game. The other three...might get to do their cool thing once; maybe even manage to earn back their points, but then they die. If the raging cocktail of drugs thinly masquerading as a human being can't get into melee, he kinda fails. Callie-chan is wonderful, but almost more of a meme. She seems to get taken more to make a Stratagem cost more than for anything she'll actually do in combat, while her ranged weapon is only flamer range, and the psyker stalker doesn't need Psykers, but is less efficient without them, and also has to get closer to engage, where statistics then dictate he'll get ventilated because of that same "4++ saves are swingy" thing. While not a sure thing, Vinny seems the least likely to actually need to rely on his defensive stat line, as roughly four feet of range is a lot better than how close they need to be to target him. In the end, I think it's all about target priority. Sure, it might seem less efficient to pop Sergeants, Apothecaries, Synapse, and the like; at least the add-on Leaders he can target, than it would be to drop Captains, Lords, and other named characters, but I feel they can be good, and definitely as good as GW wants Allies to be, since they want them not to be auto-include.
On a side, I would love to see this treatment on the Culexus. As a big Psyker fan, the anti-psyker option is my overall favorite, but with psychic stuff being so different now, and many armies having none, or just one, while Culexus has to drift up the battlefield, like any unit seeking Assault, meaning getting shot at by hordes of troops, I'd be interested to see how you rate them vs super-sniper, the Assassin of Stratagems, or the meme who goes boom among the enemy? As a big fan of Allies, I often enjoy when you cover them!
Snipin’s a good job mate!
imagine if the enginseer could put down a sentry gun...that happens to have two assualt cannons on the sides and a quad launcher uptop, and it beeps with every swiveling motion lol...
Also imagine if he played the banjo and sang old country road while doing it lol ;P@@dasheavy101
oh gosh! XD @@ProxyHammer1
Now that's soldierin', Mr Sharpe
I always thought that the Eversor was the most popular. But I also haven't played for many editions
I just wish he had a few different ammo types to use this edition. Flechette for infantry and maybe armor piercing or something but it doesn’t get precision.
Vindicaire = Ultimate cool guy.
It’s a cool model with some cool abilities, hard to argue with it. I run one to sit on my backfield on a tall building, I expect him to do nothing, but if my opponent gets paranoid about getting sniped he’s done his job. If he pops anything then that’s just a bonus.
Your oponent rolling 1 to hit isnt an issue with the unit. YOURE just lucky, you have to base it all on averages. Now you can always have it following behind another unit so you can use the pistols profile while having the rifle as a back up if out of range.
I mean he’s great for dragging out necron characters
I have a Vindicare, I love the model and the rules are so evocative. It's a shame that Precision damage isn't that useful right now in 10th.
Tempted to design a custom scenario that has each player avoiding a Vindicare at the center of the map sniping at them.
15:15 NOW THAT.... IS Spicey! Or maybe even Spacey!
7:00 it gets "better". Plunging fire means if you are high you get another -1 AP!
I understand dice averages. Buy much like a certain leman russ when this hits it hits big time. I've one shotted a tank with the vind. And precision is a big deal against certain armies.
I love the look of model but I take Gaunt’s Ghosts as they r way more versatile for only 20pts more
...all we need now r the rest of the assassins...
Weapons need an anti infantry stat
Ooooh Exitus Carbine!!! That’s an awesome idea. Not on the same level as the Turbo Penetrator 😏 but fairly close.
Ive used the vindicare several times and i just dont take him anymore. Dont get me wrong, every time ive fielded him, hes always killed something. With one shot. But after that he does fuck all
Can an eversor be grouped with a cadian squad?
Five games, only once did my vindicare earn his points!
saying something is bad because you will roll a 1 is kind of unrealistic as everything sucks if you roll a 1. It is hitting on a 2+ (litterally the best ballistic you can get) with an inbuilt +1 to the roll from heavy to keep it there in the face of any inbuilt -1 to hit shenanigans. you're probably going to put him somewhere high (another -1 AP) and your opponent is going to have to commit something tough to rooting it out. I would say the vindicare is there to (at worst) trade for a squishy back field objective character (eg eldar seers, guard officers) and is also the best sniper you can get with the guard. The Vanquisher also got a bad review for it's 1 shot weapon. Vanquishers are the Russ snipers you should set up in shooting lanes overlooking objectives to get benefit from heavy/lethal hits and a take aim order to get it to a 2+, between the canon, a las canon shot and a hunter killer you can easily wipe a decent sized monster off the table in 1 go. for 150pts they can trade pretty well as the point value definately punches up.
I have lost Typhus 2 times, and only to him
The Vindicar. cool in the lower. I think they're trashed here on the table. When I did play the the callidas? Yes, way better. Evasor would always trash the opponent.
when he crits, he just deletes things....but ive only critted with him a few times...most of the time its a whiff
Honestly its only good against guard to delete our fragile characters
A dude put it in his list becouse i played guard and it wasnt a pleasant experience
Great into necrons. But apart from that, they arent that fantastic.
They do provide a bit of a threat and influence on your opponents movements though.
Heresy!
My vindicare assassin one shot azareal turn one
He isn't trash there are just better options.
He's terrible for the points. Last place among assassins in terms of possible points scored
2nd
Snipe snipes not so good
