Such an unforgettable album. It grabs you from the opening track, "Alone Again Or", and never lets go through this, the closing track. Five stars.

This entire album is a masterpiece. I don’t use that term often. A quintessential sixties album. All the songs are wonderful. Great reaction. Thanks

The band Love was led by singer-songwriterr-guitarist Arthur Lee.
They came out of the same L.A. club scene as the Doors and Buffalo Springfield.
The album "Forever Changes" is a masterpiece. It's been said that Love is the great lost band of the 60s. I'm inclined to agree.

This was almost 60 years ago, and this is a well crafted song, and definitely of its period. I think it takes a few listens to appreciate it-Colin Ward

Hi Angela 😊 Superb reaction to Love's You Set the Stage 😊👍 I found a very good explanation about the song's lyrics and musicality...(You Set the Scene” is a masterful blend of psychedelic rock and folk pop. In the lyrics, the album’s themes are explored with one of the greatest examples of American songwriting. Written and sung by Arthur Lee, “You Set the Scene” beautifully explores change with reflections of doubt, acceptance, and curiosity. In this song, Lee is wrestling with the idea that nothing stays the same and that the only thing he can do is live each day with a smile while people around him ask why. Waxing philosophic, Lee sings “everything I’ve seen needs rearranging / and for anyone who thinks it’s strange / then you should be the first to want make this change / and for everyone who thinks that life is just a game / do you like the part you’re playing?” Lee is calling out the people around him and you can either see things his way, or keep putting yourself on. Musically, “You Set the Scene” is incredibly rich and textured. With an array strings and horns arranged with a jazzy pop flare, the tracks never cease to excite the listener. It is the kind of track that warrants repeat listenings on a high fidelity system as there are new things to discover in the patchwork of sound in every spin. There are so many nuggets of wisdom in this song. Lee sings “This is the time and life that I am living / and I’ll face each day with a smile / for the time that I’ve been given’s such a little while/ and the things that I must consist of more than style.” How incredibly profound. As much as I try to not let change bother me and live to be more in the moment, it takes a lot of work. Everyone struggles with this, though some more than others. However, it should a goal that is attainable for everyone and something to strive for. We all deserve peace, happiness, and closure. This song is something I can think about during the tougher moments.) Mr Andrew Michael Printup, please recommend more songs off of this album for us all to enjoy!! Have a great day, Angela!! and bye 😊👍

I love your reactions, Angela, and the idea that you chose to react to one of the greatest "unknown" classics from one of rock's greatest "unknown" albums (relatively speaking, of course, Love indeed has a strong cult following and "Forever Changes" is a favorite with the critics)) raises you to the top of the reaction pyramid, IMHO.

Lately Angela has played some songs that I've never heard before. And I'm a huge music fan since the mid-60s. I'd have to listen to this one more than once to really appreciate it.

Hi Angela. Great reaction. Such an interesting band and tune, that I had not before. I want to put in a request for another Hall & Oates song for you do a reaction to, that I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy. Or not. That's always okay too, because I appreciate that your reactions are honest.
The song is "Do What You Want, Be What You Are"(Great title too.) What's cool about this one, is that for some odd reason, this didn't become one of their hits. And it is just another one of their true "Philadelphia soul" bluesy, soulful, and sexy gems. Again, you may or may not agree, but since you love so many of their tunes, it will be fun watching what you think about this classic. Btw, one of my wife's favorite songs is the Hall & Oates song, "One on One" and she absolutely LOVED your reaction to that one, and so did I.
I realize you likely always have a long list of potential reaction songs, so can't get to them all.
I'm not sure if people provide a link for you when they request, but here's one anyway:

    Thanks Angela

Bought this album when it first came out one of the maybe 2 or 3 most listened to in my life. Maybe only spent more hours listening to Dark Side of the Moon.

1st time hearing this one! It's pretty catchy with a groovy dance vibe! It also sounds very psychedelic and flowery if that makes any sense! It also has existential and philosophical elements to it! Until next time, happy travels 🥾!

Awesome album and reaction! A very underrated band however I would’ve had you react to Alone Again Or instead from the same album

This song is kind of harrowing and really existential like The Doors would of done this song.
I don’t know I couldn’t jam to it like you did. When I first listened to it, the song stuck with me so hard and it’s kind of scary for a 60s song.

"Alone Again Or" is probably less timely. This song had a time and place that doesn't exist anymore.

I know this song. If you could break this song into 4 parts, I do love that (approximately) third part of the song. The rest of it which comes before and after, I could take or leave. But I appreciate the variety of styles within.
