Dan, I noticed that you may have forgotten to unpack the clear plastic 'U'-shaped piece that fits on top of the metal rods. It makes resting the figure on the stand easier.
***** I believe that you have the spines installed incorrectly. I swaped sides from what you did, and the spines fit and look much better. They also don't get in the way of the crest. To clarify, the little axe parts should be facing upward toward the crest.

The wife went a bit loopy when she found out that I'd ordered it and wasn't amused but as we're both sci fi geeks, I showed her your vid and she's come round a bit. Great review man, made me so excited to get mine. Looks exquisite!!
Luckily mine seems to be strong enough at the hips to stand without the metal rod which is good as I hate using stands. Looks weird when a figure had a plastic rod sticking out under it. The middle part of the feet seem to be upside down on all the figures I have seen when they arrive in package. Easy to flip over though.
Great review. Love the paint and finish on this beauty too. My support rod(s) on the belly underside have a supplied plastic U that can be pushed onto the end of the rod and can be placed in two indentations on the chest. Works great. I might use a small soft sticky piece of the stuff (they use to stick double pane windows together) to attach the small jaw inside as mine won't click in. For now it is just sitting inside the jaw. Actually looks ok like that too. Thank you very much for the review and assembly explanation.

Nice review,love the fact that the rod is metal and not plastic,better way to support the upper body weight of the figure.My payday is this Thursday so I'm definitely getting one!
I purchased the alternate paint figure (electric blue one one side and the normal brown on the other. and it was amazing. my complaint was that the leg segment right above his foot was warped, so its leg was always at an angle that made it hard to pose. this one is my first alien, but I have 2 Godzilla already from NECA. over all I think this one is pretty good
BTW i think there is a more elegant solution how to make her standing without needing to have a huge metal rod in front of her, like using some weight glued somewhere, or simply to fix the tail to backrgound / ground etc, at least, this is what I will do :)
OH MY F**KING GOD, I've just received this baby today and I cannot believe how big it is!! The sculpt and detail is absolutely stunning. My wife was blown away by the look of it and has forgiven me for ordering it without her knowing haha. I'd love to see how NECA tops this beauty, I doubt they ever will as this is the best looking and detailed action figure/toy/collectible that I have ever bought.

Just curious, Dan, how does she compare to the McFarlane Queen that came out some years ago? I love the Kenner one (still have it!) and the McFarlane one was about as close to perfection as I thought a Queen toy could get. This one looks to have some better paint work, though. Although the other did have that cool cocooned colonist diorama to go with it (and a adjustable chestburster!).
Nice..but I do not like the display stand getting in the way. I would've like to see a side-by-side comparison in the end with 'McFarlane' Queen. I dont know why this line is taking FORVERRR already on giving us more marines such as 'Drake, Vazquez, Apone'. I have a feeling the line is going to be done once the Riply is released...like always neca really seems to never finish any toy line completely.
it seems like they could have put some ratchets in the legs to help it stand better and thats like the only complaint i have but im still going to try to hunt that thing down great review as well bro

Thinking of whether to buy the McFarlane Aliens Queen or this figure, though IMO the former looks better than this & the rod stand actually looks inelegant.
You think the McFarlane Queen looks better than NECA's Queen? I understand that you're just stating your opinion and I mean no disrespect but I fail to see how you come to that conclusion. If you've seen the queen as she appears on screen and have seen pictures of the actual screen-used prop, NECA got it down perfectly unlike McFarlane which went for a more stylized look. Either way, they're both great figures so I guess it depends on what you prefer; movie accuracy or a more stylized look.
I own both and the NECA one is far better. You may get lucky as I have and get one with hip joints strong enough for her to stand without the metal rod. Like you, I dislike having stands like that attached to figures.
Oh also, the McFarlane one will only stand when attached to the big plastic base as it has pegs sticking out of the bottom of it's feet which I don't like. Even attached to the stand it is very top heavy and would often fall forward.
That is a supremely done figure, awesome figure. Great review!! It's making my fanboy come out! I love how you bring attention to the almost high heel like features of her feet. I love the design of the Alien Queen, I believe she was made to be aesthetically feminine, from the curves, to the angles, to the stances she poses in. I believe NECA captured that aesthetic femininity of the Alien Queen, which makes her a real beauty. From a Xenomorphs standpoint, I bet she is the talk of the hive! lol
wow, they really cheaped out on the stand there. there's gonna be plenty of complaints about this thing taking a dive off of shelves. i'd keep it in a separate display case so it can't go anywhere.
HFalconYT Cameron's design was inspired and modeled after the Giger Xenomorph, but you are correct in one aspect. "H.R. Giger notably had no direct involvement in the design of the Queen. However, he would go on to praise the creature's look, calling it "really great".
Giger, even though he designed the look of the iconic Alien itself, had nothing to do with the design of the Queen, it was James Cameron's designs realised by the late, great Stan Winston who were the brains behind this beautiful, nightmarish creature. But as @Horzzo above mentioned, Giger was well impressed with it's look.
I'm Looking forward to add this figure to my collection.She's gonna be along with my 6 inch Darth Vader sinces she's my favourite movie villian. Thanks for this awesome review man!!

The old Kenner Alien Queen had a simple queen but damn it had an awesome diorama base with humans stuck to the wall and such.

This action figure is longer than a small chihuahua! What a true masterpiece of an action figure.
Tip: There are two small hollows behind her little T-Rex arms that the stand rests in.

It’s supposed to come with inserts for the end of the rod so it has a little platform to rest on.
