I agree with Tina. Tumbling, heel stretches, & tricks (Deathdrops, Pop Ups, etc) isn’t dancing. Some of the coaches can’t choreograph actual dance moves so they allow their members to only perform stunts & tricks. It’s quite awful but Tina is telling the truth 💯

    • @fans-ed1td

This is actually why I still believe that ycdt were the better stunters on the show. They had amazing technique too, but when it came to actual dance choreography, the dancing dolls were way better. I will argue with anyone on this.

The thing is majorette was something somewhat hidden and unknown . Me being a 24 year old black woman in dusty ol Arizona I never knew majorette existed until I saw your show at 22 years old. I was in aww and absolutely in love with you young girls being fierce black girls. Y’all made me want a daughter just to make her do majorette dancing 🤣 I said that to say, I think you all had us just so amazed. It wasn’t oh I want to majorette dance and train myself to be like them . It was “I want to do exactly what they do and look exactly like them and I don’t care what I have to do to do it”. Y’all had me in my living room creating choreography and bucking 🤣 so I know people in the ACTUAL dance world had meetings with y’all videos playing doing their best to copy raw talent . But all they can replicate is the drama .

      @@dawnpratt846
I don't know what north you are from but Chicago had these teams in the 80s... My older sisters did it and I ended up starting in 6th grade. Now what didn't happen for me is being competitive.. we performed everywhere around Chicago but we didn't compete and when I got into high school.. I was a cheerleader, also on pom-poms, and in dance. However I ended up going to a white h.s. my sisters went to the neighborhood (urban) school. Even though I went to that school, we also had neighborhood dance teams that compete.. against other dance teams in other neighborhoods.. this was really big in Chicago. I danced and won against a lot of teams. Now it wasn't straight majorette, Chicago has their own dance style.. just like NY and LA. We are a city that don't have to copy off the coasts.. we have our own Midwest style.
Point: majorettes did exist but I think it didn't get Bring it far because wasn't nobody investing in the skills like that. So the show did bring a lot of progress to the table.

I just started watching Bring It. Kayla you were/are the best part of that show. I was so impressed by you that when you graduated there was really no reason to keep watching. The excitement was gone. You were/are a true battle dancer.
I was frustrated when the teams would do more cheerleading and gymnastics then dance. That was when I decided the show was going in the wrong direction.. You’re too talented not to be sharing what GOD blessed you with
Also, your mother was a true captains mother. She cared about the team. The captain and the captains mother after you really only cared about being captain. I was tired of hearing Camryn captain, or maybe she will/or I will be a better captain then Kayla…They can want it but needed the integrity you carried as a captain.
You always carried yourself with such poise…hip hop poise…respect, You carried the team as family.
I really hope you’re either dancing or teaching dance. Good luck in everything you do.

There should have to be a mixture of stunts and DANCING! What I like to see if it’s a MAJORETTE DANCING COMPETITION, it needs to be a MAJORETTE dancing (for example). Like hip hop is cool, jazz is cool, a little ballet is cool (versatility is great) but a majorette competition should incorporate majorette dancing. How clean is the dancing, your lines, points, bucking, and rhythm. I learned that by watching Mrs. Dianna coach.

It's tv. Some of us already know that they hyping and created drama during the taping. Same as Dance Mom's. Thank you for your perspective.

People credit a certain captain, but when people say HBCU dance teams look alike nowadays, I credit it to Bring It’s influence. That hardcore, hair-flipping choreo (and the fact that many of the girls are on HBCU dance teams now) is the reason I say this.

Yasss I agree with you Tina, about just doing. Stunts I have always said that is not dancing. And I watched a video of a young lady. That only did stunts & people was losing their minds. Like she's a beast & best dancer. Ummm in the acrobatic world yes, dance world no. SHOW ME SOME DANCE MOVES

Y'all need to get y'all own show or some and be traveling judges with the way y'all have such expertise in both the technical side and the formative side of majorette, I'd watch something like that for sure!

I figured that was go happen . If bring it would’ve never came out most teams would NOT be doing all of the extra stuff. My high school majorette team did nothing extraordinary like what I seen from the dolls but they did dance their ass off and look fierce while doing it. Part 3 I’m ready

I love you and your mom, I have always been team Kyla and Tina. You guys were my favorite on Bring It. Now I follow all your social media account. Beside following you through pregnancy , this is my favorite and the chip challenge . But I do like them all. Keep up the good work and keep us smiling 🙂
