    I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. czcams.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

    *This battery reconditioning program exceeded my presumptions. It worked on any drill battery, several AA and AAA batteries, **batery.repair** and any camera battery. The steps are simple and the act itself is exciting to do. No matter what type of battery you`ve got, it is sure to function again!*

    Just bought a Dremel 8260. My existing 12-year-old Bosch drill/driver batteries fit perfectly in the Dremel and vice versa. There's no need for any modifications or removal.

    I recently (2/2020) purchased a new version of the excellent tool that uses these batteries to take advantage of the multi-head feature. One of the two batteries was defective from the outset. No worries, when I called to register the warranty I reported the issue and a replacement is being sent. When I asked about returning the defective one I was told to dispose of it in an environmentally responsible way. Always the geek I wondered about the possibility of repair and as a result viewed this "excellent video".
    In the 7 years since this was made there have been some changes. Most notably the end cap on the Bosch battery pack is much harder to remove. A very sticky adhesive has been applied between the end cap and the rest of the pack. I ended up using my Dremel clone to cut away the center of the end cap. That revealed and loosened the adhesive allowing the end cap to be removed. The rest of the pack case is now a single piece of plastic that the battery assemble is press fit into (no cap). It appears that there is now a rubber insulator between the batteries. This insulator is compressed when the batteries are inserted into the case. This produces a very tight fit. The resulting assembly has so far resisted my attempts at non-destructive disassembly.

      Same me. To use Bosch 12V on my 10.8V Deremel 8200 I had to cut out some walls of new cap. So now I can run it no problem. And bosch 12V has 2.0 Ah while Dremel 10.8V had 1.3 Ah. A good thing to use now.

    • @googacct
      @googacct Před 3 lety

      I ran into the same problem. I did do a partial destructive disassembly of my battery to figure out how best to handle this in the future. The battery can slide out of the case, but it is in tight. I did a test where I used hot melt glue and pull tabs from a dent puller kit. I was able to successfully pull the battery pack out of the case. If you did not have dent puller tabs it might be possible to just use a wooden dowel.

    It seems that this video would also be VERY useful for owners of both green (DIY) and blue (pro) lines of Bosch tools so that they could use same batteries in both tools. Everywhere on the forums they say that batteries are not interchangeable but (to a wide extent) the only difference seems to be geometry of the caps that are easily exchanged as shown in this video.

    • @ebacem
      @ebacem Před 6 lety +4

      I can affirm they can fit with some modifications. I own a 12v green Bosch tool, and I've bought some 12v blue batteries (cheaper and easier to find) and within a few minutes with only a Dremel tool I was able to use them in my green Bosch tool.

    Unfortunately, they just re-released the replacement batteries on the Bosch side (Bat414) and they got rid of those cap release tabs on the bottom. I was just about to buy a battery and decided to look at your video again and compared it to the product that picked up off the shelf. Those tab openings are gone.

    • @kornelijekovac9793
      @kornelijekovac9793 Před 6 lety +1

      Every battery from every manufacturer of these tools should be interchangeable. They should also make 16850 cells swappable like AA or AAA ones are. People should boycott brands which do not follow these guidelines. No, not the people, they are not reliable. Government should not give licence for production or import of goods that does not follow standards.

      That's a good question. I haven't seen one in person yet so I can't say for sure. The cylinder part will always be the same so the only question is whether the back clips are detachable. If you try it let me know so I can update the video.

    Seems like it would be better to break the snaps that secure the battery to the fascia. This would allow the plastic pieces to act as battery lids/caps instead.
