Great singer, but he didn't sing the original version of Eye of The Tiger. David Bickler sang that song. However, Jamison was a better singer. RIP Jimi.

For those of us who was around in 1982 and brought the Eye of the Tiger album because of their phenonenal singer and excellent musicianship, Dave Bickler is the Eye of the Tiger singer. The dude voice attracted folks who didn't listen to rock as they were partial to RnB and 80s soul. Eye of the Tiger has been covered by many singers live but we don't say they are the Eye of the Tiger singers. While in the UK, Survivor post 1984 songs didn't enter the UK charts at all except the cool Burning Heart song due to Rocky 4, the title should have said he was the singer of High on You or I Can't Hold Back. Whichever was the biggest US hit of the 2. That would be correct.

Jimi Jamison's ego is literally the *one* thing about him that I had a problem with. Jimi's ego was *ENORMOUS.* *YES* - Jimi was a *great* singer, and fellow bandmate, Frankie Sullivan, called him "Golden Throat", for *very* good reason. *YES* - Vital Signs may have been Survivor's "breakthrough" album, *BUT* there's NO telling what would have happened if Dave Bickler had been able to remain with the band indefinitely.

Jimi had a better voice anyway. God knows Jimi was way more gorgeous than him. He was a better frontman survivor was Jimi jamison. He might not of started with the band. But he.,s diffently associated more as the lead singer of survivor. They had more hits with Jimi than with David. Survivor owes most of there hits to Jimi jamison. @@storyofcory what ego? Seriously? You clearly did not know the man, who was the salt of the earth, and humility was one of his more pronounced and admirable qualities, right alongside sincerity. He was not perfect, none of us are, but he was an exceptionally incredible person with a genuinely beautiful spirit & heart! Even being around him was uplifting simply because! There are many musicians out there who have disturbingly unfounded egos. Jimi was not amongst them & you have erred in suggesting that.
This is what happens when you smoke packs and packs of cigarettes on a daily basis. Takes away from your life early day by day until the early senior years when you get that heart stopped beating. Sad to see him go.
