    Anyone use any of these in the 90's? What was your experience?

      My first emulator was Nester in early 2001 which was relatively accurate as far as I remember, but shortly after I used NESticle for its palette and tile editing capabilities. I have a fondness for its inaccurate sound and GUI to this day.

      I used nesticle back when it was considered THE nes emulator. I remember being happy with how smooth it ran but being grossed out by the UI. I wouldn't use it if my parents were home for that very reason! Ah the good ol' days.

      I used pasofami and pasowing back in 98 or so, on a Pentium 2 333MHz. In my case it didn't format my hard drive, it just deleted win.com from my Windows 98 installation. I copied it from another PC with a Zip disc and fixed it. Pasowing was the "Win-G" version that ran a bit faster, thanks to that predecessor of DirectX.

    This video would get more views if your mic wasn't so quiet. I swear that's the only thing holding it back. The editing is stellar and it's a crime this didn't grow popular.

    • @TooLateNate
      @TooLateNate  Před 5 lety +3

      Unfortunately, as others have said, it works great with headphones, but the audio editor in CZcams is gone now so unless I reupload it, the video will stay the same.
      While I agree the mic thing is annoying, it doesn't affect views, only retaining views. The only way my video could possibly of gotten more attention is if I plugged it everywhere I post. Which is a tacky and not cool thing to do. I figure if other people like it, they'll share it.

      Edward yeah, was told this earlier, would be an easy fix, but since CZcams screwed the pooch on their integrated video tools it's a no go. It sounds super low on my laptop.

    • @TooLateNate
      @TooLateNate  Před 5 lety +2

      @@zxbryc Appreciate it, but my voice is a tad low, so I'll just have to fix it in the next video, which should hopefully be up tomorrow.

    I had no idea NES emulation was possible (never even crossed my mind), until 2001, when I saw a guy playing zelda in a college computer lab. He was using JNES. I have been using it ever since. I know other emulators are better, but JNES does what I need it to do.

    Otherwise A++

    Those were great days. MAME when Nicola was making exciting new releases every Sunday, Dave's Arcade Classics and Atmospherical Heights: two legendary websites with ROMS at the ready. NESticle was amazing, Genecyst was stunning, and Callus was shocking, playing CPS1 games full speed on my little AMD 300mhz box. When the hack occurred and Sardu called it quits, it was a crushing day indeed.

      The best NES emulator in 2024 is probably Mesen, although there are many good ones with different features. Mesen claims to have 100% commercial game compatibility. Nestopia is another good one.
