Their daughters kid is not their problem, that's her problem to figure out. If they can help that's great but it's should stop them from working more if they need to that's ridiculous. Unless the daughter wants to pay them for babysitting.

  • @johnSmith-uz8nl

WOW... I completely disagree with Dave. My philosophy is the very first thing you need to do when you get a job is put 15% in retirement funds. After that you live below your means and invest your savings wisely, you can also pay off your debts with this money but never... NEVER EVER, stop investing in your retirement.
Investing in your retirement is more important then owning a home or paying off student debt. The problem is people like to spend and they get loans for everything... this is the problem. So... no car loans, no computer loans, stay away from apple and embrace Chromebooks or PCs, shop for insurance using insurance brokers, cut your cable bill (only pay for internet). Like Dave says, live like no other and work on your student loans but again, never... NEVER EVER stop investing in your retirement and invest a minimum of 15%.

Since you aren't eating out anymore or going on vacation I would think that you need to get some pleasure out of your home cooked meals or you might as well give up.
