      I'll second that! Great arrangement by Geoff and you can tell that the love and respect between the two groups is real and heartfelt. Yet another one where it looks like they had a real blast making the video and produced a great new version of this classic.

    This is such a fun mashup of songs. Very cleverly done from one song to another. The talent these guys have is phenomenal. They have so much fun but the vocals never suffer. And Adam's beatboxing is on another level. This was Chris Rupp's idea to do.

    Apparently a lot of people do not like Jason Derulo. However, a number of years back he did a collab with Pentatonix on his song "If I Ever Fall In Love". I have never heard anyone who doesn't like Jason Derulo say they didn't like this collab. It's pretty awesome! Since I know you like PTX, you should react to it. Thanks! Great reaction and great sound - even for a hotel room!

    Great reaction thank you. What's so good about the a capella groups is they get along so well together. Tim was part of a song VoicePlay did for a money raiser and had different singers a part of it. And Tim and Geoff were so funny....Just Sing... really good. Then for Home Free...In The Blood...Friends In Low Places ..All About That Bass...Bless The Broken Road... you can't miss. Up to you. Have fun.

    So, u need to go check out Chris Rupp’s Channel and watch his reaction to this song. He is the one that came up with the original idea for this and approached Lane about arranging it. Of course Adam got involved to to help with the Beatboxing going with it. During the Baby got Back section Tim was Beatboxing, that’s y he was in Rob’s face spitting on him. Chris did the bass and Adam did the scratching.

    VoicePlay and Home Free were in season 4 of The Sing-Off. HF won season 4 and PTX won season 3. Please notice in this video the only butt shaking you see are the guys, never any of the women. Well, the Home Free guys and Buegs, the big guy in the cut-off overalls (which he got from Tim who wore them in Champagne Taste) who's a good friend of Robs.

  • @AtlasLytle
    @AtlasLytle Před 2 lety +1

    Yeah, Home Free and VoicePlay were in the same season in The Sing-Off. All of the groups who performed become good friends who help one another out. There is even a Hillbillies vs Zombies version of I'm A Survivor that the two collaborated together with. This isn't the first song that a member of VoicePlay helped arranged, so always awesome to see these groups work together to bring us great entertainment through music.

  • @Tark-qs4mu
    @Tark-qs4mu Před 2 lety +21

    The acapella world is such a small one that, for the most part, everyone knows everyone else. And, they all work together, to some extent. Geoff Castelluci has helped with arrangements for Home Free, Austin has helped with arrangements for Voice Play, Geoff has done the dance moves for some of Home Free's videos ( 9 to 5 comes prominently to mind ), and various groups will lend members to one another for a song or two. The world is small, acapella, but it's pretty tight knit. And, they all help one another out as much as they can.
    So, yeah, don't be overly surprised to see the names of members of one group in the credits for the videos of another. It happens all the time.
    Fun video, good reaction. I would suggest, if I could, that you back the video up about 5 seconds after you pause. This way not as much of the feel, not as much of the vibe, is lost when you have to stop for a second. Other than that minor thing, well done, sir.

    They are so good with their percussion sounds that it's hard to believe there are no instruments in this. The bass "dom dom dom" in the background and the beatboxer's drumming, so good, all of them are. Home Free and VoicePlay were on the Sing-Off together the same season 4. (Home Free won the season) but they have been very close ever since and Chris, Rob and Tim have been VoicePlay videos (seperately) with them, and they have done a video together as well arrangements together too.

  • @dwanemarsh4378
    @dwanemarsh4378 Před 2 lety +4

    This is very normal between these acapella groups. Many of them help each other with music, arrangements, etc...Tim, Jeff, and Avi have done a lot of co-arranged stuff in the past. There is a whole lot of crappy competition, but more of a "let's help each other do well" type thing going on! Refreshing, isn't it? And, they DO give credit where it is due.

    I just found you this morning. The wife and I are big time Home Fries. I'm sure your subs will go up with the Home Free reactions. Home Fries gather at those reactions for some reason. Now that you know who is who and who does what in the group, you really need to check out their cover of Cam's "Mayday". You will love that. Since you love the deep voice songs check out their song "Brothers in Arms". They have so many great songs that you really can't go wrong picking any of them. I don't think I've heard one single song that I didn't like.
    It's great seeing all genres reacting to genres out of their wheelhouse, or genres they didn't really grow up with. Love your reactions and look forward to a lot more, especially from the Home Free catalog.

They’ve worked with Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix before (Ring of Fire) and they’ve also been in some of Voice Play videos. They help each other out. Just too much fun. Good reaction Rob.

    Yeah Home Free is all about keeping it wholesome and family friendly. Honky Tonk Badonkadonk is a real song by Trace Atkins. Definitely not as wholesome lol. Also, one of the best things about acapella groups is that they are all really supportive of each other. There is even a collaboration between the two groups, Home Free and Voice Play, called Survivor: Zombies vs. Hillbillies. That one is funny. For Home Free the next song you could do is Elvira. That one was actually arranged by Geoff Castellucci. Just phenomenal and its got those low notes you like. If your gonna do more Voice Play, try Just Sing. That is another collaborative effort with a bunch of different singers for a great cause. I would recommend watching with the subtitles on because it says who every singer is and also Tim Foust is in it! Good luck on finding a new place to live. I know that can be tough

    Honky tonk was written by Trace Adkins. The show they were on was The Sing Off. Pentatonix won season 3 and Hone Free won season 4. Voiceplay was on the same season as Home Free. Chris Rupp (the beatboxer's brother and co-founder of the band) has an interview on y/b about this video. It was his pet project. Their sister was involved with a modeling agency and that's where the women in the video are from. Since they didn't want to objectify the women, the only 'butts' are theirs. Austin choreographed the line dance. The man in the cut-off overalls is a friend of Rob's and is in some other videos (they have a channel together, "The Indoor Sportsman").

    This is with the wrong group but fills in alot of the technical details. Pentatonix, as the first to break through to the pop charts etc was closely filmed in interviews to see if their acapella was for real. This is the best example I can find and the educational seminars that were done. (Note - it has changed since Avi left in September of 2017 but he was already a champion acapella guy prior to the Sing Off and joining Pentatonix and kept them honest mostly.) 3 songs performed at the end.

    The bands are pretty close and all got very connected through the TV program that ran for several years the Sing Off.
    The current baritone in Homefree (Adam Chance) was in Streetcorner Symphony out of Nashville as their bass singer.
    When Avi Kaplan left Pentatonix he moved to Nashville from L.A. and had Streetcorner do a short tour with him.
    He now still has the high tenor from Streetcorner, Kaleb Thomas Jones, in his band playing bass guitar and singing backing harmony, along with his drum player Noah Denney, to his lead vocals.
    Homefree and Avi are close and they support his summer program for 12-18 year old singers from around the world that he has been running in L.A. since 2014.
    Pentatonix won the Sing Off in 2011 (season 3) and Homefree and Voiceplay were competitors for the 2013 season 4. Homefree won.
    Sort of intro 101 except for Peter Hollens who was on an earlier season still does acapella and has collaborated with Homefree, Tim Foust by himself and separately Avi Kaplan.
    Cultural timing was everything. Glee was a big TV series, Pitch Perfect the movies came out (Pentatonix had a cameo as the Canadian team in the 2nd movie) and the Singoff series was on television for 6 years I think.
    That's the highly condensed version of how acapella came to be a pretty big deal in America in the 21st century.
