    I am screaming at the screen. The dragons have missed the point that this is HUGE in the Free From Community, it is so rare to have a granola that's 14 free (inc free from nuts) and frankly I don't care about the sugar content because we have less exciting products to choose from so this is a treat or a 'Cheeky Nibble' once or twice a week for me. This also won GOLD in the Breakfast Category for the 2023 Free From Food Awards and won Start Up of the Year Sponsored by Tesco!

    • @user-lm9ol5vi3y
      @user-lm9ol5vi3y Před 2 měsíci +3

      AS investors, the Dragons needs to see a return on their investments. The market size and the scalability of a product are things among others, that contribute to ROI

    • @iaprm
      @iaprm Před 2 měsíci

      Sure.
      She asked for 60k for 10% valuing at 600k. In two years she baked & sold doing all the work herself and brought in 50k sales with a gross profit of 37k. Valuation is fair and the business is already profitable.
      On top of that, with the little investment she made to get here, a proper investment(dragon's money, contacts and mentoring) would easily 10x this business. There is a big market for sales in the UK. Even 10x growth is quite a conservative estimate imo.
      So, that means investment from the dragon's would pay back in around 2 years easily and potentially making even more.
      As her brand grows, I am sure she will bring to the market more products. That opens up further growth opportunities.
      So the ROI won't be an issue but there is some work required.
      It would have been a good fit for either Peter or Steven. I reckon there was a conflict of interest with their other investments or they simply didn't want to put in the time thinking it's not really worth it.

      Too hard of a market, and Stevens right about sugar

    • @iaprm
      @iaprm Před 2 měsíci

      Steven is right about the sugar but he also invested in a chocolate company that adds 45% sugar in their products. This granola has 25% sugar. She also stated she is working on reducing the sugar amount.
      When she talked about her b2b margin I noticed the Dragons made a fuss, but then in many other episodes, food products with a lot less margin were good. I suppose either the editing of the vid is not adding up or something outside of what's shown stopped them investing. These pitches are actually quite long and the bbc team cut out the footage to drop to 10-15mins lengths. .

    @stevea8875 Před 2 měsíci +2

    I'm glad none of them invested, they gave her a "taste" of the real commercial world, she was living in a fantasy with this business, you can earn that sort of salary working in a management role in a retail store, so not particularly profitable, plus the fact the product is too expensive or mainstream.
    Whilst she's clearly impressive, determined and has taken her autism, Tourette's and anxiety and used them as a powerful motivation tool which is very admirable, the point is, it's totally irrelevant in the business world, consumers, investors and big businesses care about money and profit, so I appreciate the fact the Dragon saw past this and gave her a dose of reality, whilst commending her but as I said, I don't think it's relevant in a pitch.
    Plus £10,000 in savings, I think she comes from a position of wealth and upper class anyway, so she can keep on doing what she's doing and running this as a side hustle business, she's got it to this point so she clearly is able to fund herself.

    I’m autistic and can say her diagnosis isn’t what it seems. She probably has low level dyspraxia or something, and it’s telling that the doctor only prescribed exercise and not any other intervention. I just hate this culture of having to have a label to create an inspiration story. It’s taking advantage of those that genuinely struggle.
