The Irish side having come over during the Famine to the US. Funny thing is, until I was doing our family genealogy one day, I'd always been brought up as Irish-Mexican. I guess after my Irish side came over, the "Irish" part of the culture was predominant because I'd never even known I was English until a few years ago (I'm a Millennial).
