  • Hello friends!
In this video I will show you how to make this incredible jello island cake!
The idea is not mine, but I will share with you how I made this cake.
    Jello recipe I used:
    350 g of cold water
    70 g of gelatin
    4 cups of water
    1 1/2 cups of sugar.
Mix 350 g of cold water and 70 g of gelatin. Bring 4 cups of water and 1 1/2 cups of sugar to boil. Let the mixture to cool down to 120 F (50 C). Add a little bit of blue food coloring, then add dissolved gelatin mixture.
NOTE: If you need to transport this cake or to keep out of the fridge for a while, I would recommend to increase the amount of gelatin to make the cake more stable.
Hope, you will find this tutorial useful; and it will inspire you for beautiful sweet creations!

It's beautiful! I read on another blog that it's not recommended that you eat the jello. What are your thoughts? Is this cake actually meant for eating or does it just look really cool? I want to make it for my daughters bday but need to know if I should have another cake for actually eating. Thanks.

The gello is absolutely edible. Personally, I didn’t like it, because it has more gelatin than I prefer, but my husband loved it. I think of gello as a decoration, but if people like its taste, it’s great!
I would make this cake for children birthday party. This cake is fun, beautiful, and, if some kids won’t like the taste of gello, there is a cake as well ☺️
you can also make some cupcakes, cake pops or cookies, so everybody would have a dessert they love ❤️

Gelatine is absolutely edible, why wouldn't it be? It's just that if you use pure water without flavoring, it's tasteless. Why not use Pepsi Blue, or coconut water? Or flavored (vanilla) jello package?

I don't know for sure, but it's pretty stable.
My cake was standing on the table for an hour or so before we sliced it, and it was perfectly fine at that time.
If you need the cake to be more stable, add a little bit more gelatin and make sure it is set completely before taking out the cake collar.

      250g of butter
350 g of sugar (but I would recommend to use about 200 g)
      250 g of eggs
      200 g of dark chocolate
      1.5 tsp of vanilla extract
      140 g of flour.
The cake is very chocolaty and dense, its texture is similar to brownies. That makes it very easy to curve the mountain. However, any butter based cake recipe will work great!

How to do the choc topper?
Can we use agar agar powder instead of gelatine?

    • @cheshirebakery5312
      @cheshirebakery5312  Před 4 lety +2

Unfortunately, I’ve never tried to use agar-agar for this cake, so I can’t tell if the gello turns out fine with it.
For the toppers you can use modeling chocolate as I did. It’s possible to buy it, but it’s very easy to make it. It has only white chocolate and corn syrup. There’s many videos on CZcams of how to make modeling chocolate.
Another option is to use melted chocolate or candy melts. You just need to pour melted chocolate or candy melts into silicon molds and let them set before taking out of the molds.

If you have molds, you can use regular white chocolate (or candy melts). Just pour melted chocolate into the mold, and let it set.

    • @cheshirebakery5312

The mixture should be warm (not too hot because it will melt ganache; and not too cold because it will start to set).
