My favorite track! I remember watching this show when I was in middle school and my mom always wanted to be in the room when the opening song played lol. I owned the Cyberia soundtrack and was bummed when it broke into pieces. The plastic case it came in was neon transparent pink.

Trying to find this specific version now in the TikTok era full of synthwave remixes has become really hard, I remember back in 2009 you just had to type “Duvet remix” and voila, now you have to keep scrolling for minutes trying to evade all those new TikTok remixes in order to find this specific version.
Back in 2009 you only had one match with that search. With any search you either got what you were looking for or you got nothing. Good old days.

Ok this is my favorite track in the album.
The thing about this anime is that it resonates with me on a frightening level. I felt very similar to lain, in the fact that at the time of watching, we lived in a world where people's minds were constantly wired to one another, and we are all connected. Sharing of thoughts is almost instant, so it felt like it really was in "present day, present time." I was more or less an awkward social outcast with few friends, and it took me a while to get on the internet. When I did, I adapted quickly, made lots of friends (if you could call it that) and built up knowledge in system programming, hardware, art, music, literature, etc. I also had many identities that eventually split into contrasting personalities. I lived in self conflict and there were times when people including my parents gave me a look of disgust and pity. I had a time where I became overly dependent on a nice friend. I also had a time where I sorta lost myself in the internet. Hell, I even draw large spirals in pencil.

When you mentioned drawing spirals I instantly thought of Junji Ito's Uzumaki (great Manga btw, also the Anime is coming in 2022)
I love this version of the song. I am also fortunate enough to have both CD's on which it appears: SEL Cyberia Mix, and Tall Snake EP. Jasmine Rodgers has such a wonderful voice.

Listening to this song again after 20 years was like an exorcism. I danced, I cried, I feel more connected with myself than I have in a long, long time. I finally understand why this song mesmerized me as a kid, in all its bittersweetness.

@blackeneddove It's also missing the track 12: Duvet TV sized (i.e. op as played in the anime). Just as the OST is missing track 10 "tooi sakebi". That's because it's the international (American?) version. I'm sorry that you ended up with that version. If you want the Japanese edition of the Cyberia mix you can search by google or look for it at 'amazon.com' or 'amazon.co.jp'. It could be hard to find an unused one but I hope you find a good one. Good luck.

I'm one pf the few people who understood this show, and my mind still feels like it got fucked without warning. it's still an amazing show.

It took a second watch and a bit of research to really fully understand everything. And it still kinda screws with you.
That's why it's my second favorite series outside of Madoka Magica.
Falling Pictures Productions, I liked Madoka, too. Both amazing pieces of art, brilliant for different reasons, but amazing both.
I remember watching it my freshman year in high school back in 2001 and it stuck with me and recently rewatched as an adult and now even more completely blown about how complex, unique,well thought out and meaningful this story was, so ahead of its time and can and can even mirror today’s society. Love the ending even though it still makes me sad. Oh yeah Virtual Self (Porter Robinson) pays homage to Lain during his recent sets.
Saw this in my teens on VHS subs from Suncoast.
It also had a huge impact on me and the way I view the world and information.
It's an amazing anime still.
