The sessions were done in an old vaudeville theater that was being renovated in downtown Birmingham, Alabama. The singer's name is Paul Janeway. The band jokingly called him Saint Paul because he had been raised in a strict religious household and did not smoke or drink. Broken Bones and Pocket Change is the first song they wrote, so the rest of the band name came from that.
