Erica Synths Black Wavetable VCO is a compact, fat sounding wavetable oscillator with expandable wavetable ROM chips. More info: www.ericasynths.lv/en/shop/eur...
Watching this video with subtitles is lovely when showing the vowels wavetable. The VCO literaly says.... "oohhh whyyy???"LOL (around 02:30). Or later when aplying LFO to wavemorphing it starts "I am I am I am"
cyclebox is pretty impressive too, for its variety of tones, but maybe not as fat or analogue sounding sounding as this. from what i've seen so far... erica gear offers a lot of literal boom for the buck. it's just to bad they don't offer their modules in "more common silver". black & silver modules in a rack offend my eyes, but this module and their awesome D-tech (advanced polivoks) filter would make an excellent base to build a rack or synth with lots of chunky analogue tone around.
One of my Favorite VCO's. Sounds Great. Versatile, Interesting and smoothly moves from one sound to the next. Black Wavetable VCO, Rings, Plaits, Braids will cover your modular.
it's been an year i get my black wavetable and still amazed by the sound possibilities, also have the 3 chip expansion on my way :) i think would be seriously amazing to implement an LFO mode, engaging it by some long press or switch combination, with a slow cycle of at least 10 minutes, this last implementation would make this thing absolutely PERFECT,please guys consider this option if possible :D cheers!!
Also it would be cool if you had a utility to write your own wavetable at the computer, by either, editing existing audio, manipulating a virtual additive oscillator, or using maths expressions, then send your own user waves into the module, like you can with Blofeld. I use Serum a lot and one of the best features is the ability to create your own tables for it, using any of the methods outline above, as well as internal resampling. So far, no wavetable Eurorack wavetable oscillators I've seen allow for this. A missed opportunity if you ask me. Having that sort of functionality would really make your, already outstanding product, even more attractive. Good demo by the way. If I wasn't getting a new computer and looking to get the Makenoise 0 Coast next, I'd definitely be in the market for this. Oh well, maybe another time.
Cool I'll take a look. Like I said, not in the market for that sort of thing right now, but worth boookmarking for future reference. Thanks for the info.
At the beginning the module says "fm level" and is then replaced by "cv level" later. I'm assuming they still do the same thing but that subtle change was noticeable
Its all cool to have this separated thing... but how do I build a complete one with multiple of these tools like a LFO, Ring mod, black wavetable vco, o tool....?
any opinions on how this compares to the piston honda mk2? the external audio processing input on that (and the color ha) seems to make it more versatile...as AMAZING as this sounds. if anyone wants the classic korg wavestation a/d sound, this def. has that included.
this is great! maybe in a future version there can be cv control over the bank selection and bit crush? could this module be modified to have that functionality?
How do you get those high pitched sounds starting at the 22:00 minute mark? Been trying to figure out how to get something close to that or more specifically at the 11:30 minute mark of Phaedra by Tangerine Dream, there are these wonderful echoing, strange 'alien' animal sounds.Sort of like a wolf or high pitched dog,for lack of better description.
That first section of Phaedra is my favorite..that sound at 11:30 of Phaedra is just pitch modulation of an oscillator with some complex shapes...sounds similar to seagulls to my ears. You could try mixing two envelopes of positive and negative envelopes so that they sort of compete with each other. The positive envelope hits then a short negative envelope is trigged a moment later and interrupts with a quick negative voltage. Not sure if I'm explaining it right but really any method you want to use to get a wonky modulation shape like that to an osc's pitch. then echo and verb of course. I might screw around later myself and if I nail it might even drop some patch notes and an audio example here for you :)
Thanks very much Garret.I'll try your suggestions and see where I get with it.I thought it might have something to do with pitch modulation, but wasn't sure if I was on the right track and/or how to proceed.I thought on Phaedra they might have been using an EMS Synthi to get those sounds,or the Moog modular.Been thinking about getting the iVCS3 app for the ipad to try out just for fun. Thanks again for all the help, much appreciated. :)
Hello, thanks for this demo. Im new to modular, so me have some questions: Concerning the sounds from 19:00.......How are the SEQ and the EQ patched within these patch? Mean where does the white and purple cable leads to to get this amazing sounds? Thanks a lot.
Is the binary code right...? shouldn't bank 1 be three off, and the right one on? That is corresponding to the number itself instead of starting with 0.
Dude, it's a demo of everything the module itself has to offer... This video is top notch and is a perfect example of how a module should be marketed. If you're expecting to see a video like Richard Devine tearing it up with 200 other modules, then you're buying modules for the wrong reason..
I love Erica synths but I’m paying off sweetwater furdayzzzz Giveaway?😅🥹💟 lol Love the octasource, hexinverter stuff is INSANE!! Gotta get more case space and modules 😅😖🤓
These are some of the nicest sounding digital waveforms that I've heard.
Wow, the sound at 22:20 with a nice kick would give a huge hypnotic techno track.

Sounds amazing! Very well thought banks of waves and extra CV assign for bit crush or VCA is great. Exciting stuff :D
damn erica synths really did a good job here this is probably the best vco out there in that size class next to the mutable instruments braids.

I think so along with the Harvestman and Subsconscious Communication for raw industrial sounds.
@@GuitarsAndSynths which harvestman is that?
Wow, this sounds great. This combined with the Erica DSP would be a winning combination !!
This looks fantastic! Looks and sounds great. Wonderful features, including the Sub!
Amazing tones... and sooooo many options. Go to 19:15 and 23:00 some amazing sounds!
Powerful module ! Excellent demo ! Congratulations !
Phenomenal VCO. I just picked one up. I can't wait!
This VCO sounds amazing!

I definitely wanna try out these in person they sound amazing!
simply amazing!
Oh man... How did I miss this? I just purchased your Octasource from Schneider's today and then I find this! You're making me poor Girts!
sounds fantastic
Alchemical wave transubstantiation. AHhIieeOHh! Jupiter crush by Jove, this is a dream machine. Lovin it.🌞🔮💗
I wish you guys would make another batch of ROMs for these.
Huh. Probably best use of Nokia 6101 screen to date!
Amazing. I need one !
9:20 'Long Live the New Flesh!'
I would LOVE to see a full-blown synth developed around this oscillator!
Actually there is one in the works, so stay tuned! :)
Sounds wild. Poly or mono?

I think the Flame 4 vox will allow you to upload your own waveforms via sysex
Cool I'll take a look. Like I said, not in the market for that sort of thing right now, but worth boookmarking for future reference. Thanks for the info.
Looks good !
Very nice module and a bitch rush knob as a bonus!
SICK!!!!!!
Wow, sounds amazing!
Sold!
I keep watching this video and thinking that I want to get one. I've made up my mind I'm ordering it!
At the beginning the module says "fm level" and is then replaced by "cv level" later. I'm assuming they still do the same thing but that subtle change was noticeable
damnit i was saving up for maths but this thing makes such cool sounds
Very very nice :)
Using an 12 bit Converter, fed into a Lexicon PCM 70... this could really sound amazing!
Nice!
I just ordered one , cant wait till it gets here. (ordered the extra rom chip also)
can both ROMs be used at once or do i have to swap them out?
Great!!
Its all cool to have this separated thing... but how do I build a complete one with multiple of these tools like a LFO, Ring mod, black wavetable vco, o tool....?
WOW!
Wow! Sounds fantastic I could use that Today
I'm here for the "Bitchrush" knob.

and subbed, thanks!
Seems so much pleasing to the ears and more musically useful than the piston honda.
Made In Machines agree. the piston sounds so dirty and raw compared to this! I do dig the piston's slider interface for the rom banks
this is great! maybe in a future version there can be cv control over the bank selection and bit crush? could this module be modified to have that functionality?
That can already be done via the CV input! Check the manual!
Thanks?
he does this in the video lol
I get though that we don't always watch it all!
pretty much Blade Runner towards the end :)
totally. My favorite movie ever BTW.

Yes, but if you'd start with 1 you can only have 15 banks if you use 4 digits. :)
@@00Ivanov thank you 🙂
23:00 needs a heavy break and a chorussed foghorns plz
When will this module be available again?
How well does it respond to audio-rate modulation?
It responds well to frequencies up to 1Khz.
I have the Braids. Should I go for this instead?
No, you should go for this in addition to Braids! That's what I'm going to do!
What about this bugs I've been reading about that make it crash?
That affected just a few modules, it all fixed right now.
wait, why the hell do i not have one of these.
Some waves sound like UAIU. Interesting. Form 2:19 on.
techno
yoi yoi yoi
WOW
Give me like 6 of these!
Bitchrush.
Bitch.
Rush.
mmmmmm
Who's Erica ?
I know! Right?
This video has over 50,000 views. Why aren't more people questioning the "BITCH RUSH" attenuator?
I guess we're the only ones observant enough. Scary, huh?
Very nice. Would have been nice hearing you actually playing it in a normal way though :)
