3:01 your halfontes are also exactly on top if your "low number" is on the same e.g. 50,50,50,50 ... this does not need to be high...
Thanks for the tip! I'll pin this comment so others can learn from it too :)
actually these numbers create the angle of the halftone :)
Thank you so much! I'm making a birthday thing for my best friend and I was having trouble with other places explaining halftones in Illustrator, your tutorial was the one that got me through.
Straight forward to the result! This is how I like it! Thanks man!
Very helpful, straight forward. Awesome work!
Happy to help!
I like how you explain what is going on like what expand is actually doing
Thanks!
Super helpful! I was about to manually make these halftones
Oof! Glad I saved you the trouble :)
Late comment but thank you for this tutorial. I had to design a self-portrait with 3 different art styles on it and I wanted to make a Pop Art background so this halftone technique really worked for me without the stress.
You're welcome!
Thank you for the help and advice 👍
No problem amigo!
YEUP! That was a Reeeeaaally cool tutorial! Awesome!
Glad you liked it!
You've made this so easy to follow. Thank you, sir.
Glad I could help!
It´s not just that it was big in the 50´s, the halftones come from older printing systems, they did not have the tech for better DPI outputs and shadowing (a rough description). The look has been kept alive as a popular design style, but it was just the way things were printed years ago, it is a cool look tough!. Cool tutorial!
Are you able to use the halftine gradient as a mask?
2:43 i want this effect but it doesnt seem to work i cant get those colors anyone know why?
A tip for everyone that's having problems regarding the quality of the dots: it barely works when your canvas is too small. I was working on a postcard and everytime I tried to do that effect, the haltfone pattern would come out pixelated. Instead, I opened up a new document (size A3), did the effect there and copied the pattern to my postcard.
Great tip!
@hnng You're a love, two years later and you just helped me out!!
Thank you a lot bro, that's amazing!
Happy to help!
Thank You So Much !
how do you change the color? Mine only wants to be black
amazing thanks!
HELPFUL. THANK YOU!
Glad it helped!
Thanks!
The resulting spheres are extremely jagged and the trace results in small teardrops instead of perfect spheres. Any suggestions?
SOLVED: Changed the trace option from default to "high fidelity".
Thank you for your comment!

how do i change tha trace option from default to high fidelity?
I personally got the best result by using low fidelity actually and cut way down on the render time. Food for thought for anyone trying this.
Thank youuuuu for this !!!!
You're welcome!!
Can u make it wave too?
THANK U SO MUCH
Thank you for this good video
You are welcome
thanks!
Very nice and so helpfull
Thankyou so much!
When I "Make & Expand" my object, all the circles distort into oblong shapes - wondering if anyone has a workaround for this!
Not sure if you need this anymore, but open the image trace panel before you expand. Hit "advanced >" and turn off snap curves to lines.
@@annabellegoldin-mertdogan9930 thanks
Thank you
You're welcome
Won't let me change the colour from anything outside of greyscale, is this because I chose the greyscale gradient? I think I've answered my own question will try again using a colour gradient instead.
That will be why, yes :)
tutorial ini sangat membantu saya untuk mengerjakan konsep nirmana :D
For some reason creating an image trace doesn’t work do you know why?
Yes!!! I am hitting a wall at this step as well - and google doesn't seem to have any answers for me
are you part of the discord?
If you were to set the common angle at 45 or 90 or multiples thereof you would have a better edge on the dot cluster.
Nice tip!
good one
Thank you! Cheers!
Seems the color halftone will affect ur computer when working on a bigger scale. Like I'm working for a 4x1m artboard, my computer always crashing
GREAAAT
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TipTut I was working on the graphics section for the student newspaper and used it for a comic related article. I think it turned out great imgur.com/b4Fir0C (in Norwegian)
