Saying goodbye to one of our overlooked national treasures is not the best way to start the year but let's remember him in one of his greatest performances as band conductor Danny in the brilliant and no less undervalued classic British movie, Brassed Off.
Loved Postlethwaite in Brassed Off. Also really enjoyed one of his last performances in The Town. He did some wonderful 'character' parts (Usual Suspects springs to mind) and always raised the credibility of any movie he was in. Sadly missed.
He was frequently the best thing in the movies he was in.
His role as Giuseppi Conlon in 'In The Name of The Father' I thought was one of his best and the thing that springs to mind whenever I think of him. Also my cousin worked with him (as an extra) in 'Killing Bono' which is coming out later this year. RIP Mr Postlethwaite, you will be missed.

Ill always remember Pete Postlethwaite's performance in In The Name Of The Father..a role he was Oscar nominated for (sadly overlooked for the win). R.I.P
I remember the first time i saw Pete Postlethwaite on screen. I was eight, and he was that guy who brought down the T-Rex.
I knew Pete personally and this is a great tribute.
Well said. It's 14 years since I saw Brassed Off but I'll look for the DVD as I ought to see it again.

I've had Brassed Off in my Netflix queue for nearly a year now. Guess I'd better watch it ASAP!
