I was 11 when this came out and into hair metal but it was getting too much with the ballads. GnR didn't fit any mold and felt like they were legit dangerous . A good album for me back then meant I didn't have to rewind or fast forward through filler songs on my walkman while riding my skate board. The whole record A and B side is great.

In nature where animals live in packs or pods or communities. There's always an Alpha and he gets top pick of whatever is valuable and if you try to go above him he'll kill you! That's the animalistic jungle metaphor, think of a Lion if you have to. Then there's this thing about being in a civilized society with the same animal stuff going on but instead of lions it's humans.
