Train's coming - off the tracks! We are altogether comfortable with that alarm, however, imagine a scenario where it occurs in an open street market.
Maeklong Railway Market is an amazing spot where the merchants need to move the canopies and shop fronts again from the tracks each time a prepare approaches so it can go through, at that point supplant the things when the train has passed. The train could come as customary as many times each day, contingent upon the train schedule. That is the reason the market is additionally alluded to as "Collapsing umbrella Market", a rising site to visit when venturing out to Thailand.
This market has everything that we've come to know and love in Thai markets. Its slows down have showcases of organic products, veggies, meats, fish, and also sweet snacks, apparel, and blossoms. The real contrast is that there are train tracks running straight down its center.
A beguiling small cautioning alarm goes off finished the speaker framework only a couple of minutes before the train comes. Inside a few minutes of getting the notice, sellers pull back their uniquely composed overhangs previously the train comes, now and again just minutes previously. That is the reason the market is locally known as the Talat Rom Hoop, which translates into "Market Umbrella Close."

"Where do u wanna open your market?"
"On the railway!"
More precisely on the tracks
The market was there first and I’m not kidding
Market was built first, then Thailand build the railway thought the market, the salespeople didn't want to move so they adapted.
@Leah Welsh x that's the truth tho
@Leah Welsh x Only stupid people think calling someone smart is an insult.
It's incredible how hard people in the overpopulated Asian countries work to make a living. And so many of them risk their lives in various ways, just so they can feed their families and have a roof over their heads. Total respect for the work ethic. I'm from India, and have seen a lot, but this is next level.
Lol You're Also Asian Bro
Lol India's also overpopulated af
@@Aryan-sw7dp yeah he said that for india too
Nice
Some of these vendors makes like $400-$500 daily profit selling their foodstuffs to tourists. I don't think they are really desperate in the sense that you're perceiving. There's a lot of underground economy in Thailand and these people are getting the free ride by not paying any taxes. From the views of outsiders, they appear to be all poor, desperate, and innocent, but many of them have more money than you!
That is why it is always recommemded to wash your produce thoroughly.
So I saw this on Instagram and it indicated that they do this 4-8 times a day , 7 days a week . Not only is this risky in a number of ways but also tiring to always have to close shop so many times a day . Hats off to them for their labour.
But why do they settle there at the train track? Can anyone explain
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the people moving backwards or not?
Sam- Yes, just look at 1:04 at the guy walking backwards and a few others. It must be that the poster, for this video, didn't have a front view of the train, so they simply ran the video backwards to show the train is coming. It looked normal though when the train left since he was probably recording out the back of the train. But there are other videos on CZcams if you really want to see the people scurrying when the train does come.
It looks more dramatic when played backwards because the people move immediently to the tracks.
@Gary Schooley wow that’s racist as fuck 😂💀💀
Maybe it's a video taken from the end side locomotive.
@@app8790 I hope ur joking lol
The train driver also gets heart attacks 8x a day, 7 days a week
The first part with the train coming is played in reverse
Nope you can observe voice and say its not reversed
@@Akshith_Raj_ You can literally see that its backwards because of the people walking backwards.
OMG ! I Can't believe this !

Yummy, I love oil and grease dripping on my 'fresh' produce.
And the metallic tang of steel dust.
Tonight's entree will be Spicy Thai Pork with passenger train dust.
Wait till u find out what they grow fruit and vegetables in!
It would explode ur brain
And i love that vegetable with the dust and oily taste tho
Clean it!
This kind of unsafe use of railway infrastructure would not be tolerated in Ireland
not a fridge in sight if anybody here tried this in ireland they be closed down straight away
Or the United States

Definitly
It's not like they went to work in a place like that because they feel like it. In poor, overpopulated countries people do whatever they can to survive and feed their families, not for fun
-How close you would like your market to be to the railway?
-Yes.
The craziest part of all of this is that they wait literally till the final second to move things
That’s gotta be stressful for both the shop owners and train drivers
Probably one of the strangest stretches of railway tracks in the world.
Nothing like fresh produce with a generous helping of brake oil and wheel dust!! Yumm!
Intresting that they knew what safe space was inbetween that crop stand and the step on the site of the train.
I’m here in Thailand for a few months and did not know about that when I was nearby and now I’m in a different part of the country and hoping to go back to see it before I have to leave again
U saw that later or not
Why? Why on the railway? Why? And 100 times WHY?
Jake:
How often does the train go by?
Elwood:
So often you don't even notice it.
Its too dangerous 😦
Well, I call Thailand my home sweet home, and it's quite a quirky place. You see, we had train tracks running through the area way before the market was even a thing. And when people started flocking in, they had to learn how to dodge the trains like it was a game of Frogger. But here's the kicker: since the market was built, we haven't had a single train-related mishap. I guess our folks have finally mastered the art of train-dodging, or maybe the trains have finally learned to give way to our bustling market. Who knows?
The whole line of this train is truly with the community. But I had never heard of any train accidents.
Thanks for sharing. Seemed impossible but glad to hear it! 👏🏻👊💯❤️
Anyone else notice how clean the train was? (Abit of graffiti but that kinda of expected for trains)
No one can access the depot so the train is kept clean.
Notice how unclean that market and food looks?
Yeah the train is a beautiful chrome. Probably relatively new. Doesn’t have to deal with a ton of rain on that side of the world either

So do they have some sort of warning system that tells them the train is coming?
OMG it almost crushed the food
That market is HUGE
Yes
train running and bazzar running peacefully coexist at the rails!. awsome!
Wah khatron ke khiladi...What a couragefull people !!
"fresh food"
Thailand is first ☝🏻to open market “online” 😅
Underrated
It's a good thing it's not a high speed train. And if the horn breaks, they're screwed.
Right
I think they need warning bells connected to the tracks as well as some sort of train signal here. Market should start wrapping up as soon as bells go off.
Hanoi Train Street of Vietnam, Kunsan Railroad Town of South Korea, Maeklong Railway Market of Thailand ~ very resemble !
Shifen train of Taiwan too
In my country, the rail market are full of high speed trains, near the central station and between the branchlines
It’s THIS and Traffic Circles that reinforce my faith in humanity.
Miss those days.. bangkok i will be back..
THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.
*Thanks for sharing. Greetings from Vietnam*
in hanoi there is also the "train street" in khamthien, it's like here
Imagine someone is not on his shop and his shop is still on the track.
ive beeb here last year....sadly didnt experienced how the train passes by.miss thailand
Incredible unbelievable
We have seen this.Traders are well disciplined and the train runs on time.Superb 😇😈😇
Entering Won Wen Yai station. Been there done that many times.
How is it that they have all these markets and cafées right at the train track? I wonder if it used to be to make transportation of goods easier?
Is this fish market or railway station?
Very disciplined shopkeepers.
They’ve been “trained” to deal with situations like this.
"Fresh food" mmmmm.....
This has got to be one of the craziest things I ever seen! Wow and the people are not fazed one bit. 🤣
Good representation of "fast food"
How s so far from wat rhan?
Now i have seen everything 😨
My third eye has opened!
thanks you so super
Doesn’t look like the driver is changing his speed drastically either. I find this so intriguing
They have speed limits too though. He’s probably not going more than 10-15 mph
The train is the king
I go already this place at bangkok
This is crazy. What a nuisance to have to fold up your wares. But Id like to see it in person!
These folks choose to be there. In foreign countries like this you don’t need no damn business license and pay property tax to have a food stand. You just setup shop in a good spot before someone else does and make sure no one steals ur shit.
half_lifemozzy the market was before the train
omg what a dangerous areas! i can't believe it.how this possible to get a dangerous road.
Not really, theres a 3 minute alarm that signals the vendors to move their stuff before the slow train arrives
Merci❤❤❤
OSHA approved? Holy Cow !
It’s like the parting of the seas
Who else was watching waiting for the train to crush some tents?
Kha ka hai ye sin
I am a Thai, this happends only in a very very few areas, I myself never see this, but I have to admit that it looks dirty and very bad indeed. No matter what, there are many more areas that looks clean and much better than this.
ไปให้เห็นจริงสักครั้งแล้วค่อยพูดครับ ถ้ามันแย่แบบที่คุณว่าคนไทยและเทศคงไม่ไปเที่ยวเป็นแสนๆ
