    Hey Adam thanks for sharing! can you guys go about the use of the minor 6 pentatonics?
    I use what I call the spanish minor pentatonic on the third of major chords, R b9 4 5 b7, so in CΔ I could go E F A B D
    but if I see it like is a sus4 sound yet phrygian, so I'm exploring. If I start it from D is R 2 b3 5 6, it ringed a bell on the Minor 6 pentatonic you mentioned, doing the math sounds like this fitted.

    Strong recommendation from Ron Carter, avoid notes below the "S" in Steinway? So what's that, somewhere around the F below middle C?

    • @RyJohnsonMusic
      @RyJohnsonMusic Před 4 dny +1

      I believe this mainly applies if you’re playing with a bassist/guitarist because that range is where they live. Around F-G below middle C

    • @thomascordery7951
      @thomascordery7951 Před 2 dny

      @@RyJohnsonMusic Of course! Steinway builds that end of their pianos for a reason. And as the Maestro said, it's not a hard and fast rule. It's a guideline and it's part of being mindful of contributing to the whole, as a collaboration.
      For the keyboardist, working that way is a restriction sure, yet it's also freeing. When someone else takes on that territory you suddenly don't need to be the entire band, not all the time. And as much as the solo pianist can do all of it, letting elements go let's you apply creativity elsewhere.

    Nice explanation, but you play sometimes so fast, the software that let you see the blue notes played can't even display it all you do.

    • @g.belanger8302
      @g.belanger8302 Před 3 dny +1

      Yes, I was going to comment on this also, but it’s not because he plays fast, it’s because the display is out of sync with the playing all the time. It shows the notes BEFORE he plays them, making the display very confusing as a tool to better interpret the positioning. The video feed was probably delayed.
