- The U.S. handed over its last military base in Niger - one of two crucial hubs for American counterterrorism operations in the country - to local authorities, the U.S. Department of Defense and Niger’s Ministry of Defense announced in a joint statement on Monday.

I remember going to a U.S. Military base and some soldiers from Niger were visiting (I think it was in Carlisle, PA). They visited our local museum, and I gave them a tour. They were fun to talk, too.
If Niger isn’t seeing the results of foreign intervention or if the party isn’t providing results, it’s time to look for a new solution.
Since Americans are out and Russians in, expect massive response from separatists wining and taking territories. Be wise if you know you know
