I love this album, it's in my top 5 best EXO albums. About Forever and Diamond, they sound better live, so I won't be surprised if you start to like them more after checking out their performance. With the month of Christmas approaching, do you intend to react to EXO's Christmas/winter albums? I highly recommend the albums, especially the first one, which is the most Christmassy, but if you don't like Christmas songs, I recommend Universe, it's much more of a winter album than a Christmas one.
Songs performed in concert LIVE like 'Diamond' you should see. Every track LIVE adds a different feel to the song. Even ones you dislike, you love the live version because it sounds better, due to their vocals. This is a great album and their B-sides always win. Vocal flex for real. If you ever react to the LIVE concerts these MV's deliver. The music sets are just phenomenal, you may have to blur the video. Great reaction. The War was definitely an experimental album, their second most after Exact. That was D.O. in What U Do doing the "you do" adlib lol, I think you'll love Forever after a couple listens, with Diamond? I still am indifferent about it lmao. But this album is def a journey, you may not get it on the first listen but give it another go and YEA.

this album is one of the albums when i think about the essence of kpop, like if there was just one example of kpop music i could share with someone it would be this one. the war is probably exo's best album in my opinion and has aged very well. any kpop fan could see how it's pure exo, but any random person could listen and hear what makes them stick out musically. i hope this makes sense lol but i just love this album... forever, chill, and going crazy have been my favorites ever since i discovered exo all those years ago

The War Album had a lot experimental music, like kokobob it self, diamond, Chill and forever. The first time I heard this album I also not a fan of it, but after watch their concert, this album become one of my favorite exo album 😂

This is still my favorite album. It tells a full narrative from beginning to end. "Forever" was not my favorite song on first listen, but now it's in my top 10. "Going Crazy" is such a trip (and I love how many sounds are in it)!
The War isn't my favorite EXO album (honestly this entire era was kind of eh for me), but it has a lot of fun songs on it, Touch It and Chill especially. I also think between Forever and Chill, it has two of Chanyeol's best rap performances with the group and it's not even really close. He absolutely DEVOURS the rap on Chill.

Tbh, the War album is destined to be performed live, like you should really check out the MMA performance with kokopob and forever + the eve and I think the other one is SBS Gayo daejun (same year) AND of course they performed all the song in their concerts. Also you should really check out their winter albums, they are MAGICAL, if it's not the instruments then the vocals and the emotions will overwhelm you 😅
So I would like to preface this by saying I am not trying to convince you to like a song. But your critique of Diamond made me go back and listen to it because it is top 5 B side for me. Exo harmonizes with the rap line so I was like...there is no way the production is flat. I would suggest listening using itunes or Spotify. When I listen to it, during the chorus, for example, I can hear Kai, the layering of Kai's voice, harmonies in the back, the track and the bass line. We all know the audio on CZcams isn't the best. I remember how during the first few times I listened to "diamond" I didn't understand this song at all, this song seemed to me very weak and generally strange, compared to the others on the album. But then suddenly this song became a musical dr*g for me. I remember going to another city, it was a few days after the release of the album, the road lasted about five hours, two hours of the way (maybe more) I listened to "diamond" in a circle, I literally could not stop 😅
