Racisce Croatia 🇭🇷 4K Korcula Island Walking Tour June 2022

This is a walking tour of Račišće, Croatia taken in June 2022. Račišće is a small town on the island of Korcula, located in the northern part. It is known for it's sailors and fishermen. It has a population of about 600 people. It is a very picturesque town with crystal clear waters. If you are visting Korcula Island it is a must see. It is a short drive or you can rent a bike and enjoy the views mostly along the coast. There is a bit of talking in the beginning as a I met a local and he gave me some info/tips of Račišće

🇮🇹😠The famous battle of Curzola between the Genoese and the Venetians took place on the island on 8 September 1298, in which Marco Polo remained a prisoner of the Genoese. Based on this background, as well as on the presence of a branch of the Depolo family in Dalmatia, some Croatian historians currently claim that Marco Polo was a Curzolan native and claim his nationality, but this version has been denied with reliable evidence by the Venetian historian Alvise Zorzi, who also notes that, even if absurdly the birth of the great explorer had occurred in the capital of the island, this would not have meant a Croatian origin at all, as in that period only Veneto-Dalmatian people lived there (and it will be so until 1920, even if only in the city center).
