    • @jayfromaz
      @jayfromaz Před rokem +498

      @Nedd Flanders these people typically come from impoverished countries where there may not be jobs. So in their worldview these jobs give them an opportunity to make money that's probably better than they make back home.
      And no not everybody gets to choose what they do in life. That doesn't mean that people should be mistreated.
      I'm not saying they're mistreated on the ships but they are indeed long hours for long periods of time.
      I mainly want people to understand what these peoples conditions are like so passengers will be more understanding and considerate.

      @Nedd Flanders nope they don't get paid well, These ship companies bring employees from poor countries like Vietnam etc you will also see workers doing the same service, but their wages different, For example, a cook from America will be paid more than a cook brought from Vietnam, There are intermediary companies that work to bring in employees, and the employee is contracted.
      A person lives in Vietnam on a wage of $300. If someone came to him and said to him, “Do you accept $700 per month, including travel tickets, food, and housing, do you think he will refuse?”
      Of course, he will agree, because he will eat for free and sleep for free, and he will consider sending all the salaries to his family.
      Independent contractor + no governments rules apply on them, so you see that they are exploiting the workers.

      Totally harmless, too, because the time interval between drydocking is so long, it'll wash off before the next time, so you can literally write whatever you want.

    I definitely miss my days at Royal. I did a 2wk dry dock in Freeport on the Mariner, a 1mo dry dock in Freeport on the Nav, and a 9 day dry dock in Hamburg on the Indy.
    6yrs on ships and even being away from the job, I still miss it 7 years later.

    Careful folks.... She makes working on a cruise ship look ok maybe even fun; getting to visit foreign countries for nothing right? Well she didn't mention how cruise ship employees make very little work very long hours and let's not forget that cruise ships typically exist far out in the ocean....out of reach of... National law. Doesn't matter what nation... So if you get raped then there's no one to report it to.... Cruise lines will NOT help you and by the time you reach any police of any kind the rapist is likely off in another country. Be very careful if you choose to work (or even go on a cruise as a vacation). Pay is lower for the work involved and if you get hurt you're on your own. czcams.com/video/0nCT8h8gO1g/video.html
