    • @LA_Commander
      @LA_Commander Před 3 měsíci

      So that sounds like an issue with your cooling fan on the right side. The sensor could be messed up. The left side fan is controlled by the A/C unit (That's why it's called the A/C fan).

    Sounds like a classic cracked solder joint. Fans come on as a fail-safe. I'd take the module apart and find the broken solder joint and put it back together. Those cars were notorious for bad solder joints in the hvac panels, too.

    • @kyhomegarage3430
      @kyhomegarage3430  Před 2 lety

      I did take module apart off camera and didn’t see anything wrong with it. In my experience cracked solder joint will cause open circuit. This module has intermittent short to ground and also that provide direct ground to control side of a fan relays and same ground is used as an input to turn relays on.

    • @johnaclark1
      @johnaclark1 Před 2 lety

      @@kyhomegarage3430 I agree, however, often these are built with fail safes to toggle the fans to on. So a problem in a circuit could trigger logic on the board to turn the fans on, rather than just a simple short to ground. Cracked solder joints at surface mount resistors is what goes wrong with the HVAC modules. I've never had one of these out but I'd suspect similar issues. Just food for thought.

    • @kyhomegarage3430
      @kyhomegarage3430  Před 2 lety

      I don’t know but looking at a wiring diagram looks like that only way module can turn relays on is when temp switch closes circuit to provide ground to control side of a relays and module will supply power. That leads me to conclusions that this design doesn’t have fail safe mode. It an old car

    • @johnaclark1
      @johnaclark1 Před 2 lety +1

      @@kyhomegarage3430 Well, that module is turning it on internally. I suspect it is possibly seeing a circuit problem internally, which you duplicated by squeezing and twisting the module. I'm only suggesting that the problem isn't a direct short internally but another internal circuit defect causing the module to turn on the fans because it doesn't know what's going on. I know failed engine computers will often turn on fans to protect the engine. I don't know if that's the problem or not, just another thing to consider, having seen so many failed solder joints on those vintage Honda's.

    Both of my fans kick on when a/c is turned on so I don’t think it’s a relay issue, I just replaced heater fan sensor and switch. To no avail when engine warms cooling fan doesn’t turn on?

  • @WavyVaporizers
    @WavyVaporizers Před 2 lety +1

    I changed the sensor switch on top of the thermostat and the 2 sensors below the distributor and my cooling fan doesnt come on when u turn on the ac and it's supposed to but never does. I checked my relays and fuses and they're fine. I thought maybe my fan needs to be replaced but I ran alligator clips from the cooling fan directly to the battery and the cooling fan came on with no problem. So my question is why isnt my cooling fan turning on when I turn on the ac???? The fan on the driver side comes on without any problems.

      @@tipsreviews7476 the issue for me was my radiator had multiple holes in it which is what the mechanic told me when he did the pressure test on the radiator. I changed my radiator and radiator fan and I haven't had a problem since. If anyone is experiencing the same kinda issues if you fixed everything I mentioned above and all those wires and plugs are fine check your radiator pressure test it.

      Yes

    • @LA_Commander
      @LA_Commander Před 3 měsíci +1

      It depends. One is a dedicated cooling fan for the radiator (right side). The other fan is for the air conditioning (left side). Normally, only the right side one should come on and off to cool the engine. But both could come on on a very hot day for additional cooling. Or when the air conditioning is turned on.
