    Oh I got another must bring, Zip Lock bags. You can bring food back to your room and save it for later. Like Fruit or pastries. Really nice if you are getting off the boat and can bring that food for a snack. Or a late night snack later.

      @@TheTopTenTour After 8 cruises, I don't use toiletries bags anymore. I put my toiletries, make up, first aid supplies, etc. in quart size ziplocks and use magnet clips to keep them on the walls of the bathroom and vanity. Larger ziplocks for wet things and dirty laundry.

      Instead of Ziploc bags, you can actually bring collapsible containers like a Tupperware container and so they collapse flat in your luggage and then you can open them up and you can actually use them as a bowl

    Take your own insulated drink cups with lid! Drinks are served in tiny plastic cups that constantly fall over

    Our family just returned from a cruise and to add to your list for our essentials we used collapsible laundry hampers, wet bags for swimsuits and water shoes, beach towel bands instead of clips, a small hanging mesh toiletry bag for the bathroom, poo-pourri spray, portable travel hangers, lanyards for our key cards and an extra plastic card to keep lights on, over the counter meds (especially Aloe Vera Gel), and a silicone travel sleeve/mat for a curling iron. We bring Dramamine and motion sickness wrist bands with us every time, but so far haven’t had to use them.

    After 8 cruises, I don't use toiletries bags anymore. I put my toiletries, make up, first aid supplies (bandaids, neosporin, imodium, ibuprofen, cold medicine, tums, etc.) in quart size ziplocks and use magnet CLIPS to keep them on the walls of the bathroom and vanity. Larger ziplocks for wet things and dirty laundry. I have also moved away from towel clips to towel bands. They take up less room. And get packing cubes for your luggage! Regular or compression (preferred). There is limited space for clothing, and packing cubes (in a different color for each person) fit great on the shelves in your cabin. I use the smallest packing cube for all my electronics and cords. And, if you find that you don't have enough hangers, ask the room steward for more. I made the mistake of bringing hangers and they just took up space in my luggage. Little things - Downey wrinkle release, Poo-pouri, night light, travel alarm clock (for the early excursions) and a cork screw (so you don't have to pay a corking fee) for a bottle of wine (you are allowed to bring one bottle per person aboard)! Don't forget to bring a sweater or light jacket because the AC can get cold on the ship! Have a great time! You will be pro cruisers in no time!

    Love your tips!! Went on our 1st cruise last Oct to Alaska!! Along with your hooks, bring heavy duty magnet clips! Used them for our tickets to excursions, daily planner etc! And another motion tip.. get a motion patch from your doc. One lasts 3 days so you may need more than one. Also.. in the buffet grab a couple of green apples! Those work great too for motion sickness!! An old hotel plastic key is great to keep the lights working. In a pinch though I just folded up paper so it was stiff and the size of the card, worked great!! I also cant say enough about getting the "professional" shipboard photos! We love ours! Since we dont ever get those at home they mean even more! Great backdrops!! A balcony is worth it too!! We loved getting to sit out there!! If you can.. do priority! Loved the breakfast every morning in our room!! Take the ship tour if offered!! Learned so much on it!! Doing a round about next! Vancouver to Seward, inside cabin, Seward to Vancouver, balcony! Almost forgot.. the showers have a line to pull out for drying clothes! We also used our heavy duty hooks and hangers to dry clothes! Another picture hint.. we took nightime videos, in the playback we saw a pod of whales go by and beautiful Northern lights that the camera caught but we didnt see!! Oh my! I could go on and on!! Have a great cruise!!

    Fixing to go on my 16th cruise in June. Pick up some candied ginger and peppermints with real peppermint oil. My husband and I bit can feel the motion of the ocean and it does more than the Dramamine. Even the non drowsy nocks me out. Guests services always has medicine for sea sickness as well

    FYI, Royal Caribbean/Celebrity does not typically allow power strips with cords. They may get confiscated. I like using towel bands instead of clips. They take up much less space in the suitcase. Loved the video. I hope you enjoy your cruise. Look forward to hearing about it!

    Never gotten sick from motion before, been on 2 cruises. I do always take Bonine, just in case, and grab a green apple from the buffet on embarkation day, as I’ve read they help with motion sickness as well.
    You can also put a copy of luggage tag inside your suitcase (since it prints two of each) in case something happens to the one you hang outside your bag.
    Also, we take towel bands instead of clips, just cause they take up less space.
    Hope you guys have a blast!!!
    I always make sure to take wrinkle release spray, first aid kit with otc meds, and air freshener.

    The only cruise I've been on was also a Carnival cruise in Caribbean with the wife and kids. Jamaca, Grand Caymon and Cozumel. (It must have been in 2003 since the Iraqi war started while we were at sea.) I remember that you could feel the ship move more at the top and not even notice it on the lower/mid decks. It was fun. I drank my body weight in booze, ate really good food and smoked Cuban cigars on the deck (which you can get at all of ports).
    I hope you have fun and good weather!

    Have cruised multiple times - my one must bring is ziplock bags of multiple sizes. Can be used to store wet items or to carry back something from the buffet for a late night snack on your balcony. My next cruise is also in May - you aren't by any chance sailing on Wonder of the Seas?

    It would be interesting to see what you recommend after your cruise because everyone is different and their packing needs are different. We’re going on an 8 day western Caribbean cruise at the end of October. I’m kind of a minimalist packer so I’m planning on taking just a large underseat bag and a fanny pack. This will be very similar to a cruise we took last year just with a different cruise line. That was my 3rd cruise. I’m planning on packing even lighter based on what I thought was unnecessary for that cruise. I enjoy watching pack with me videos and seeing what others think are necessary but as someone who is pretty minimalist, almost everything they recommend is not something I would take. But everyone’s different and that’s wonderful.

    • @TheTopTenTour
      @TheTopTenTour  Před 3 měsíci

      Definitely understand! We try to pack as little as possible too. Thankfully, we kept that in mind with this video and most of the items we recommended are relatively small.

  • @jazlynnewilson1111

    Right! The next thing I did after booking our cruise was looking up must have items for the cruise. We are not going till July and it is my hubbies first. Very excited about it. We watched your this video together, love the bonus tips. Something I saw on people recommend list for cruising was lanyards and plastic key card protector for your room key. Since you use your key card to get drinks and pay for most things are your cruise, plus getting in your room. Can't wait to see the cruise video.

  • @anneaugello
    @anneaugello Před 3 měsíci +2

    You can always hit rough seas. I find Bonine better than Dramamine. Also, you always want a cabin to be midship and in a lower deck. Be sure the cabin has cabins on either side and above and below. This is so you are not exposed to horrible noise.
