    Hey Uncle Nicko,
I got the Prisma 20 A based on your advice and wow what a machine it is. The sleep quality is on a totally different level as compared to the Resmed 10 that was given to me for a 4 week trial. There is a slight wheezing sound from the blower which most people can't hear. I met the technician for Lowenstein at their Brisbane service center to get it fixed. The wheezing was present in his own machine too but he hadn't noticed it till I made him switch off the room ac and listen carefully as I breathed. He finally said that there is nothing to fix in it, that's the blower revving up between breaths to provide the Soft Pap
Amongst other things, what he very clearly told me was that there is no Bluetooth in the modem that is attached. I tried arguing with him that Uncle Nicko said there is and he said he works with these machines and neither my 3G modem, nor the 4G one he already had, has any Bluetooth chip in it.
Another piece of news that he gave was that he was expecting a batch of the 4G modems pretty soon (possibly in a week or so). He said that as soon as he gets them, he'll send it out to all the Sleep Clinics and it is up to them regarding how to contact their Lowenstein customers and provide it to them.
Waiting eagerly for Prisma 20A support on Sleep HQ. But if you are waiting for Bluetooth, then as far as the technician was concerned, the 20A has no Bluetooth.

In this video, I discuss the significant differences between the Lowenstein Prisma20A and the more affordable Prisma Smart.
The significant differences can be summarised as follows.
    1. Prisma20A has more advanced humidification with higher levels
    2. Prisma20A heated tube is powered from the CPAP and not from an external power supply
    3. Prisma20A has a Swiss Micronel Blower. The Smart has a German-made EBM Papst blower. Both are very good but the Micronel is a lot more expensive.
    4. Prisma20A has a big color touch screen (physical) and is a highlight for me. The Smart screen and menu system is not nearly as nice
    5. Prisma20A has SoftPap level 3 which reduces pressure on exhalation and provides a burst of inhalation pressure. Smart only has 1&2, which reduces the pressure on exhalation but no increase on inhalation.
    6. The Smart has Bluetooth as standard (the module is internal). The Prisma20A requires an external cellular modem + Bluetooth module
    7. Prisma20A is a 37V device, the Smart is a 24V
Other differences i left out so not bore you to death.
    - Prisma Smart firmware updates are done OTA (over the air), and Prisma20A are done via SD card.
    - Prisma20A has an alarm clock & dimmable screen
    - Prisma20A has different language options
    - Prisma20A has a setting option for bacterial filter
    - Prisma20A has breathing displayed during operation
    - Prisma20A has micro-usb cable
    - Prisma20A has extra detailed clinical information on the device menu after operation.

      Great additional differences Nick !!
Finally i bought the 20A ! The softpap 3 gives an excepcional performance, goes 1 cm h2O up in inhale and goes 3 down in exhalation without any leap, very soft. I experienced leaps in the smart max model in level 2, i asked here in chile and only one another person made complaints about this. I think as i am an old cpap user and tried many machines, i can have a more fine perception. So for me , the 20a should be the nirvana cpap.

Thanks for the great comparison, Nicko!
Currently I'm renting Prisma Smart Plus (white) and considering 20A for purchasing.
You've mentioned that Prisma 20A has extra detailed clinical information on the device menu after operation.
Would you pls advise what exactly extra clinical info is available on 20A menu but missing on the Prisma Smart menu, and vice versa?
I'm especially interested whether Cheyne-Stokes respiration duration is displayed DIRECTLY on 20A menu (without modem), as well as deep sleep duration.
In the Smart Max, for instance, deep sleep is not displayed directly on the device menu, but is shown only in Prisma App after replication via bluetooth.
Any other points of extra detailed clinical information on the 20A device menu would be of great interest as well.
      Thank you in advance )

I use the blue tooth connection to my smart phone to control the unit there by I don’t need to use the screen (albeit push button I don’t find a problem if I need to). Hello and thank you for that very complete comparison guide. Could you say anything about noise ? Are they really that much quieter than all other CIPAPs on the market ? Also, is there a (big) difference in that regard between the two ? Thank you

    • @CPAPReviews
      @CPAPReviews  Před 10 měsíci +2

Hey, no problem. in the dead of night the noise can make a difference especially at higher pressures however at lower pressure perhaps not as important. Whenever i make a purchase i always consider how often i will be using the product. If it something i'm using every day then i'm happy to spend a little more and i think the same is true with a cpap. I think it's worth it personally. Cheers

Hmmmmm it's a great question! I don't know to be honest. I'll have to think about it. They both have different strengths so it probably depends on the end user and what they are looking for in a device.

Lowenstein Prisma SMART PLUS (With Bluetooth)
I have just spoken the help line of Lowenstein in the England, I told them I am switching from my ResMed to Prisma SMART PLUS.
I asked if I could take out the SD card and upload it from my Windows11 computer like I do with ResMed.
He said no problem, but I should check with the receiver if they can use the file I upload. He said I should also download the “prisma APP” and ask if it can be used, as the SMART PLUS has Bluetooth and it is uploaded to the prima APP automatically.
    My question:
Can my weekly or daily report be uploaded through my Microsoft computer the same way as Resmed 10
    Ashley

I bought this in Haifa Israel, on Sunday the 8th of October it was made in Hamburg sometime in July 2023.
I will remain using my ResMed10 until I find away to upload my daily report from the Prisma APP or if not available, if possible using the Prisma SD card. I also hope with long history on the ResMed that I have uploaded, and that I joined the Pro club to learn how improve to my leakage and other settings.
