    How do you move transient positions in simpler the way you can move transient positions in Logic’s Flex time? I have a sample recorded at a bpm different from my project’s tempo so there are points where the transient isn’t right on the beat - I want to move those transients to the beat in simpler but it’s not obvious how and it’s incredibly frustrating

    Is there any way in ableton simpler to:
    - Define samples as regions (start end) instead of the end being defined as the start of the next slice (so you can have overlapping slices)?
    - Play the audio from an arbitrary point using the mouse- so when I'm figuring out my manual chops I don't have to take my hands off the mouse (move back and forth between midi controller) finding my chop points, listening to them, and refining?
    -Custom map the midi keys for triggering chops (e.g. if you want to spread chops across only white keys/black keys, or a certain part of the keyboard, etc)
    I'm so used to using slicex that these are all key features for me, but I can't find a way to do this in Ableton, and I can't just use slicex since I'm using ableton on a mac.

    I found a issue with the tutorial. the slice feature is mapped to a very low octave.
    If there is no sound, remember to shift to the lower octave on the keyboard.
    As what Dave from eevblog would say "Trap for young players".

    • @ptt619
      @ptt619 Před rokem

      I ran into this problem as a beginner. You can shift the keyboard octaves by pressing z/x

    • @stealthinator00
      @stealthinator00 Před rokem +1

      @@ptt619 The problem is unless the person knows that shortcut on changing octaves, it can be frustrating for beginners.
      Also the person in the tutorial did not explain the shortcut that you have to change octaves to get it working.
      Tantacrul did a video about user interface design on how to design a good experience for people who have never used the software before.
      Remember that not everyone will know the shortcut.
      Maybe ableton should have put the samples at a octave without needing to change up or down.

      You might have solved the problem by now, but for me I just realized after an hour that the keys were automatically mapped to a much lower octave than my keyboard could access by default. After switching the octaves on my keyboard I found the assigned keys and could finally play it! It's a very basic mistake, but I thought I would mention it in case it helps. Good luck!

      @@ro_bertpark Happy if it helps! Mine were mapped to the keys starting with C1, so 2 octaves down from my default C3. If you double-click on the track (at the top in session view) a grid of keys (E3, F3, etc.) should appear at the bottom. To the left of that grid there should be little dots. When you tap on your keyboard some of the dots should highlight in yellow. You might notice that some of the dots are white. Those are the keys your slices were assigned to. If you click on those white dots, it should scroll the grid down to the relevant keys. If you go down toward C1, there should be "slice 1", "slice 2" displayed instead of the name of the note. Sorry if the explanation is a bit confusing, it's kind of hard to explain without visuals. I hope it helps. Good luck!
