Ormiston Pound | Day Walks of the Red Centre (Tjoritja / West MacDonnell NP, NT, Australia)

Arguably the greatest day walk in the Tjoritja / West MacDonnell National Park, the Ormiston Pound walk forms a stunning circuit that passes through Ormiston Gorge. Starting at the day use area and cafe, the trail heads in a clockwise direction, initially heading across the rugged hills before descending into the pound itself. Following the creek bed, the trail enters the massive, steep sided gorge, which leads to two pools of water than need to be negotiated with a wade before returning to the trail's start point. A must-do day walk for anyone visiting the West MacDonnells.
