- Today we are taking a peek inside a Japanese thrift shop! Japan is filled with them! While they are often called "Recycle Shops" here, they are filled with tons of hidden goodies! Something tells me we are going to have to go back!

What would you have bought from here? Should we do more of these? Let me know in the comments below!
That was great! Our thrift shop here are nothing compared to the Japanese ones!
I only have a PS2, but was always a big fan of the Spyro the Dragon games. Always a good time finding those in thrift shops.
I was half hoping that you would have stopped by the wristwatch section. Japan is a 'watch country' so I imagine that one can easily find interesting deals from second hand shops. Regardless, an interesting video, thanks for sharing with us!
Yes please! Make more videos like this! And videos of fleamarket as well!! Thank you so much 💓
A foreigner could walk into this store and not realize that everything is secondhand.
Is that profile picture yandere simulator?
Yes. Many things looked like new. I guess secondhand doesn't always means "used". I Don't really think this cosmetics are all opened up and someone used it already.
My thoughts exactly 😆
They just make the place clear and alot light and decent any. guess over seas they always try be clean and look decent any compare to place in america some reason. not saying all thrift in america not decent but just different places is different setup to look right and suitable i guess. i been to thrift and where i go it decent and they try make place nice in a way and not so run down like other places might be any.
@@blablup1214
Hiya! Foreigner living in Japan here.
Yes, not all stuff is "used", but it is called "second hand". In Japan, sometimes people gift each other cosmetics or bed linens or stuff like that, that you don't really want, but you don't want to throw away, so you end up selling them in places like that. Drift stores won't take personal items (beauty products, socks, personal hygiene) that have been opened or used, but they will buy it from you if it's still sealed.
Everything looked so nice in that shop! The thrift stores around here are usually so... blah
Lol yea it’s kinda nice here
I wonder if it just a lifestyle i guess to make sure all look decent and nice kinda. but america it like a different world any lol.
Yeah it's like that here as well
Everything doesn't seem like it was taken care of :\
so... aaaaaauuuugggghhhhhew

The fact that the video game and anime figure section is so stacked, makes me wanna go just for that ngl. Imma have to take an extra suitcase with me when I eventually go to Japan lol.
When I went to Japan - no lie- I bought an extra suitcase while I was there to bring figures back. Soooooogoooodd
@@jellypopcorn good to know :3 I'll have to do that then!
That Fear of God jacket got me rethinking thrift stores in Japan
Hahaha you really loved it eh!
@@TokyoLensExplore "Fear of God" is a high-end streetwear/designer fashion brand so it's very surprising to see it in a thrift store
Guessing donater not want no more for any reason and why it priced so hi kinda unless they are like all thrift now and try go by ebay prices lol.
was not expecting to see a FOG jacket there, but there again I have literally found designer/hype beast items in thrift stores across asia before.
I found a Versace shirt at a Goodwill store, once, for $1. Of course, that was in the early 2000's, and near a wealthy neighborhood.
The timing for this is impeccable as I'm off to a thrift store now with my parents lol.
Hahaha beautiful!
Another proof that google is listening via your smartphone 😄
I’d dieeee if thrift stores in the US looked like this 😭
I work at a thrift store and I can say that when the stores grand open they look like this. Once they're open for a few months sometimes it's impossible to keep it that clean because of how we Americans are. Japanese people are always polite and clean over there.
I wished we had quality like that in Australia
Welp, there's another thing I didn't realize I was supposed to be jealous of Japan about.
That guitar is a Fernandez ZO-3 (ゾウサン) with a built in amp and speaker.
oh thank god he went back to the guitars lol almost closed the video out of spite when he glossed over that section the first time.
This is one of the things I miss most about Japan. The thrift stores are just AMAZING.
I love Japanese thrift stores, most of the items still have a really good quality.
I think it was in Morioka, up in Iwate, where a big 2 or 3 floor thrift store had loads of nerdy stuff and gaming related tech, I almost never left that place 😂
"If you are missing the sound of Japan" I feel seen
I work at a thrift shop in Ontario Canada, and its insane to see so many games and toys of that quality. Normally at my shop we have customers fighting each other over a handful of games and toys just so they can resell them.
Second hand stores in Japan look so big and clean, over here in Germany it's usually really small stores that are crammed and you have to be careful to not knock anything over while you walk through it. Also we don't nearly have as much variety, I'm jealous :0
Thrift stores in Japan looks so awesome. Everything is clean and tidy!!
13:52 yeah, it's an air hockey table. that's the right word for it. 👍
I would buy so much things in there. I loved this so much.
It's amazing a lot of the stuff looks brand new, not even opened.
Oh man, that anime figure section would get my wallet in trouble lol! Thank you so much for showing this shop! Love thrift stores. This one looks amazing compared to some of the thrift stores here in the US. So jealous. 😆
the in-store announcement definitely takes the cake~ sounds like its one woman doing the announcement in the whole of Japan XD
it is amusing how organized and clean the thrift store is there~ cute mushroom for your collection~~ did you get it?
😂 I love the false endings haha
I need to keep stores like this in mind when I come to Japan!
Much love from Arizona ❤️❤️
Thrift shopping is my favourite pastime, watching CZcams comes a close second. Absolutely fascinating how they repackage some items!
Holy crap! Everything is laid out so neatly. I really like that.
The variety always amazes me.
Camping supplies were looking good
I’d be looking at the toy section first every time lol, I’d be getting anything I’ve never seen before, like Toku toys
Oh man! I LOVE thrift stores! My mom and I used to hit them up all the time. You never know what you'll find. My best find sofar has been my wedding dress, was brand new from the Disney princess collection fit me perfectly only $150! :D
wish our thrift stores here in the US were this clean and organized!!!
I really enjoyed this video! Nothing like some good old shopping trip and wow the care for 2nd hand stuff in Japan is immaculate. I think thats what attracts me to these kind of videos. I so desperately want to shop there!
This legitimately made me change the way that I'm looking at my japan trip. I desperately wanted to do some camping, but it was going to be tough to fit in with the budget. After seeing this, I might extend my trip a little, and get out there and do some solo camping. Looks like you can get a full loadout for really reasonable prices.
I love thrift stores. I cannot believe how clean and new everything looked here! What did you end up buying? I would have loved the Totoro clock and the French Press. I also love coffee made that way. :)
This is basically me in a thrift store. As soon as I'm checking out one thing, my eye spots another.
Saw your first video a few months back keep come back for more each day best way to relax after a long day of work ,Big love Tokyo Lens and your adventures
Yes, that intercom voice majes me miss Japan. I am a HUGE Ratchet & Clank fan going back to my still working PS2 Fatty. I am also a game console collector. Love thrift stores in Japan.
POGO BALL!!
Everything in that store just looks in better condition than what I would expect to find in stores in the states. Impressive diversity of items.
A lot of it is admittedly really well taken care of
Can guess stuff donated, that they dont like trash stuff any like america some or many dont maintain stuff as should any so it all wear and tear or use and donate if no need for it any. i seen stuff donated so i know peeps try not trash stuff cause read places wont even try sell any if not sellable at time and get trashed anytime.
I LOVE THRIFT STORES! This is one of the things I look forward to when I finally get to visit!
Fascinating stuff, 1st time to watch a thrift store tour and wow!
New subscriber and this is oddly specific but I love that you are considerate of other shoppers. I hate when people are walking around with cameras while I'm just tryna do my grocery shopping or something (I live in central London, unfortunately it's common) and don't seem to care that I'm in their video even if I don't want to be, so it's nice that you try not to intrude upon other's shopping experiences. :)
You're excitement is contagious! Thank you for this video 😄
Thanks for watching~
Wow, that thrift store puts anything in Canada to shame! Thanks for sharing Norm!
The balance thing you mentioned, we had one too for jumping, my brother and sister loved it
Those copper pots looked amazing! I'm a huge thrift store fan and this shop and those ones shown in other video's on this channel are mind blowing. Great too see people of lower income have a place to shop at.
Ah, I just love your videos! It’s like hanging out with a friend (who is way cooler than I am!) I love thrifting. Never any stuffed animals or pillows! I have to be able to sanitize things. I enjoyed the camper video too! 💓
Hahaha what a kind comment~
Thanks so much eh 😊
Really enjoyed getting to see a Japanese thrift shop! Thanks for putting this one up!
Thanks so much for joining!!
Thrift stores in Japan are superior! I hope you bought that hammock and the cast iron skillets, those are great finds. I think I have to watch these in slower speeds, I want to look at all the cool things longer. I’ve always wanted to travel to Japan and plan on shopping but now I’ll have to plan on double shopping
We really need more of this stuff !!
That is such a neat and well organized store! Kudos to the staff it looks great in there
so clean and tidy
absolutely amazing❤️❤️❤️
There are some beautiful guitars and love the double kick peddles
The cleanest and most organized 2nd hand store I've ever seen!
oo thanks!!
Thrift store videoooooooo. You know these always get me pumped! I love how the Camping gear section was right next to some Megadeath shirts 😂 Definitely looked like this store had a really wide variety of items, though I was shocked by how much cleaning product/soaps they actually had; I've never seen that before in any thrift store I've been in.
Really cool to see how well curated the store is!! I guess just like any secondhand store, it's still a matter of searching for what prices make sense, but at least everything looks well taken care of.
YAS! More thrift shop content! 🎉
The second hand industry in Japan is awesome.
Love these types of videos too man, Keep doing what you Love Norm! Bring your shamizen on your trip and do some recordings in the lush forests!
Wow they have so much! Nice!
They know order. So clean an tidy.
Love that shop. Want to see more thrift shops!
Thrift stores in japan are AMAZING! my fav is manga souko
Thrift stores are the best, legit 90% of my stuff comes from a thrift store. Everything can be washed/disinfected so why not? (stuffed toys survive the wash just fine) The one near me is good, mainly because it borders a rich neighbourhood. I could totally send you so much Fire King Norm I see it all the time!
Loved this! So fun! I liked the small change of pace for a bit! And that camper van suits you! Maybe one more Norm sized for the future? Lol
I would love the dishes , such a nice clean store !!
I love Japanese thrift stores, they're so much better in terms of the quality of the stuff .
These are my favorite videos you do
thrift stores in the usa and especially in japan look so much more interesting and varied than the ones down here in australia ^_^’ this place is a well organised treasure trove! would love to see you explore similar stores around tokyo! :o
Brings back memories of when I visited a second-hand shop in Japan and it took me about 20 minutes of being suspicious of the prices to realise all the goods were used haha. Wish there was a didgeridoo in the store I visited - defs would've copped it. Cheers for the tour mate!
I literally was planning to sleep now but saw your notification. I knew what time it was and it was most definitly not time to sleep. 😂
Thanks for the great content as always Norm !
Aww thanks so much!!
Thirft stores are always fun, this one specifically reminds me of the Goodwills in my area. The electronics and the music sections are always my go-to spots to look for stuff like Gameboys or obscure music gear. I know the guitars with speakers built in are super gimmicky but they are still fun to play around with
This store was freaking amazing love from New Zealand 😍😍
if i could just shake off my computer addiction, i know i'd be out camping a lot like you because i've always LOVED camping lol
Everything is so clean! I could spend thousands in here!
This second hand store has an amazing selection
I saw at least 20 things i want..i really wanna go to a japanese thrift store now. Also amazed at how everything looks like it’s in really good condition!
Awesome video Norm, I’d love to see this second hand shop in person, and other stores, also to the second hand store Toy Planet
Woe! The van is awesome!
A second hand store! Of course!
We are planning our post covid trip to Japan and a second hand store is now going on the to do list.
Fyi, tools made for the Japanese market are great for reselling in the US especially ryobi and makita. The build quality is just so good.
That clear guitar is a beauty
I miss the second hand store we went to when we were in Japan, they had so many anime figures, it started my new obsession.
I would've definitely bought the Toad bento box, and then probably never used it haha
Hahaha almost did the same thing~
Loved this video! There were so many things in that shop I wanted to buy lol. I would love more of these because its fascinating how much nice stuff is in Japanese second hand stores - I feel like the ones in America are sometimes like digging through garbage to find the two or three good items. Like that one was color coordinated!! And honestly I think the pricing was better even if some items were a little more expensive than I would pay for something used.
Omg the last part was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🐢🐇
This looks like heaven, and this is just a thrift store in Japan? Where would you even begin
Very well kept…It looks like a fine shop!
I miss Japan 🇯🇵 can’t wait to go back!
Definitely one of my favorite things to do in Japan 🙏🏽😎
what a cool van. nice stuff in thirft
We have alot of second hand sotres in the netherlands, but you cant beat the quality and the organization of the japanese stores!
Ok this was cool as heck to see. As i have some thifting master sisters i will absolutely be sharing this with them.
That was cool.
@6 minutes I remember it was called a PoGo Ball in the US mine was purple and green color
great video, your videos are always fun to watch, I liked the fans that were in the store 😀 👍, I think I will buy myself a fan when I move to Japan 🇯🇵, again great video 📹 👍
Cool video thanks for posting
I live in Nagano and I've never been to a 2nd street, I always end up at Hard off but this looks dope!
Definitely going to check it out. Nice video.
Lucky ass
You always know how to make me instantly jealous, showing off the Video Games and the Anime Figures. Gotta say, I would spend alot in this store!
ALSO THE LOVE LIVE PILLOW!!!!!!
Cool video! I could spend the entire time in Japan in thrift stores.
Everything looks so neat and organized! Thrift stores in the US tend to have a certain... smell... to them, haha!
Immaculate second hand shop
Such a clean and organized thrift store 👍🏽
😊
This makes me want to go back to Japan just so I can go to thrift shops!
