4:45 - "it's too big to fit in your wallet and it's too awkward to hold" Well, do you keep your audi key in your wallet? I think not. Don't like holding the card in your hand? That's ok, because you are not supposed to hold it in your hand. That renault card can sit in your pocket the whole time. It opens the car for you when you put your hand on the handle, locks the car when you leave, allows you to start the engine, etc. You don't have to take it out and hold it at all.
+Osama Bin Laden I have that car and I know what I'm talking about. They failed to notice any of the real flaws of the car. They just came up with bullshit reasons, and they pretend they're experts.
I just would like to say one thing, after have owned this lovely Laguna coupe GT for the past 4 years, had it new back in july 2011,the car is simply great. Mine is 3.5 V6 240HP and yes If the times goes back, I will buy it again blindly!
So can you explain why the new Mercedes have Renault 's dci engines??? I have nothing against german car manufacturers but I think you seriously need to see outside that they aren't the only ones in the world
This is like comparing The Beatles to One Direction. However, I love my (admittedly non-GT spec) 2010 Laguna Coupe 2.0 DCI 150. Beautiful to look at, cool to drive, decent power and rare as rockinghorse shit. You're more likely to see a Ferrari than a Laguna Coupe and trust me... it gets looks every-fucking-where. And although I've personally never driven an Audi, most of the commentators on here will have never driven either. The Laguna "only" cost me seven grand... for that I'd barely have got a six or seven year old average Audi. The choice was simple.
I enjoy so much reading these comments. "Renault is crap", "How can you even compare these two?", "Audi ftw" and so on… This is perfect for all of us that know that today Renault is just as good as any german manufacturer. Because of the reputation gained in the past the depreciation is fast and you can get some real deals when buying used Renaults. Half the price and third of the miles driven compared to germans, you should really think about that people. VAG had problems with their TFSI engines and DSG transmissions, both BMW and MB have had some really expensive problems with their diesel engines lately, what about Renault..? Actually Renault engines can be found in Nissans, Infinitis and even in the MB's as well in the future. Renault is known to have some weird electrical problems and some wearing parts wear faster than they are used to.. but come on, engine is the heart of the car!!! And remember, Renault has a loooong history in racing. I think that it's just "cool to hate" french. I'm not french but have bought my first Renault (coupe Laguna as well) and nothing to complain. You should at least give Renault a try and then you can come back here and complain about all the things that does not really matter for a person who just wants a car that works!
Bashi88 It's not only about quality of the parts... I've driven many audis and renaults in my life and I can tell you audi drives just sooo much more comfortable than renault!
i love the way that they have no concern for the speed limits in this program, if in top gear someone drives slightly over the white line and you get dozens of complaints.
The Laguna isn't the most luxurious but has one of the best longevity of it's category. Only the laguna II had reliability problems at the beginning but the others have none.
@berlinixx a normal clio yeah it may fail but I was refering to a top of the range model like the laguna above, which I believe would last more than 100 000 km and you get to keep the 30-40 000k for you
my good i love this laguna i have all in all in that car just that 4 well stering,i have drive this car and u dont have the track response its like to drive remote controll car i just cant say this if u test it this car i swear u will cry for this car its wery lovely car
I love this video, they are such cool people having a laugh and joke like that. That guy is awesome for liking the Laguna. I like the Audi but personally I'm a Renault guy. Gotta love em :) Anyway, I'd take the Laguna simply for the individuality and the value. Four Wheel steering is cool too :P
guys i had own a 2004 laguna v6 3.0 and had it for about three years i got it new! after 3 years i used to still enjoy driving it around even if i really got no where to go ! just by being in it was fun by it self! it was sporty enought when i needed power and turn to a family car when i get more family memebers needed a left! so let me tell you this coupe got to be my next target no doubt!
These 2 cars had be hailed by top automobile designers as amoungst the MOST beautiful cars in the world. Pitting them side by side ... a dream come true!:) Swoon.
Don't talk for ugly cars , when u have a AUDI in the picture . Specially in the back the Laguna has an artistic design. Work of ART. The Front (lights) need to be redesign.
@albayridvan2 if you would look up the tests for reliabilty on the renaults since 2005, you would see they end up higher then the comparible germans...
The A7 haves most performant gearbox in audi history..... :P i have a french ,,shit'' made in 98' and absolutely perfect! Laguna Concorde 1! 1.6 16v gasoline
decourcelle9345 Oh yeah this baby is the best! Me and my dad bought a Laguna Coupe GT with the front and back spoiler kit today, and it sure is a beautiful car! And it is so comfortable to go for long rides in! :) Renault FTW!
Funny that the laguna used to be known for electrical problems,I know loads of people with vag cars that have had no end of electrical niggles with their cars lately, seems they ain't what they used to be.there's a couple of skoda's in the family-bought because of the implied quality of the vw group and both are nothing but trouble, one thing after another to the point of despair,my sister has a 2010 A3 and shes had no end of bits replaced under warranty and is selling before the warranty runs out
@StraightHugo go drive one. the new car has better road handling and very responsive steering. combined with a lovely v6, it makes a sporty coupe that looks great. old lagunas used to have soft suspension for driving long distances on hot roads in france. most were diesels, so they clocked up a lot of miles. soft and dull to drive. new one is the opposite. what you must remember is renault has both a F1 and a rally team i own an old laguna, my freinds dad has the new one,and ive driven both :)
I bought the Laguna. Yes, I did. And do you know what ? It is simply fun. Is it better than the A5 ? The absorption is not as good as, but still fine. If you are taller than 1,80 m, the Laguna is your choice. The A5 seats are for women and kids. Renault did a good job. The Laguna`s tail is sexy. Cars on the motorway automatically give way to the Laguna, because they are curious and want to see its tail. With the A5, they will block you...HaHa....
The other car manufacturers puts more money on different models so build different cars in middle-class too. You can't forget them. And it's hard to compare all the midle-class cars with your criteria. For example if we speak about design or gaity I'm sorry but VW's or Audi's are all almost the same in grey or black and without a real personnality...
I agree with you than german cars are very common in middle-class but it's because german car manufacturers sell theses cars since many years so they're specialized on it.
"Laguna is shit in compare to Passat" I think you need to drive the Renault to see how it's better to drive and even without the 4 wheel control system. Then the Megane RS is the fastest front-wheel car in the Nürburgring so we speak about handling. It's easy to build one fast accelerating car but hard to make it as safe on the road as the Megane RS...
when testing a car, it's all about performance skills, quality, comfort and price among others, it's not about personal preferences so to me, this test is just subjective. Maybe Audi has a tradition in making quality cars and maybe Renault has maked a really good product but with a test like this it's impossible to tell more.
The A5 would be nice if we didn't see that design on all audis for years, now it's just too banal to really be attractive. I agree that eventhough the car is soulless, it's better-made than the laguna, but far from enough to justify the price difference.
@adibazi ya, the race becomes unimportant because VW came 1-2-3 in it.... but ya nice comment about Audi, it's something most people don't bother to think about.

@EldinBegic They did a comparison in the video and I see a lot of comments on "Renault is in the F1, Audi doesn't..." Just saying that Audi is on almost all the criteria the winner. Maybe Renault needs to focus on making better quality cars. And if they choose to focus on the F1, it's fine by me, but as you said: Audi is higher class and much better then Renault....
you should have tried the 2.0 T GT... is a little bit faster (7.1 s 0-100 kph), and doesn't have a big heavy block out in front, so much more agile. maar vet filmpje voor de rest.
that laguna is not copy of nothing its based on fluence concept , the electronic of renault is SIEMENS made in germany the hidraulic is bosch the light phare radiatorts and all other things are valeo made in france interior it depend what package you are using ,personaly i work in my renault and i know all the part and all the things in it, the politic of renault is to put down the price of the car and to chock up the price of spare parts

The Laguna Coupé looks sporty, elegant and individual. The Audi A5 ... more or less ordinary. I'd go with the lower priced and better equipped Laguna.
I have the 3l Laguna coupe , so glad I got this had it 2 years now , not missed a beat and its stunning
Laguna looks like Aston Martin DB7 / DB9 ;)
