I had a screen print and embroidery shop. We had a 6 head 12 color machine for shirts and large items and a 4 head 6 color machine for ball caps. Both were Brother machines. We had to pay a guy from Japan to come train us. It’s pretty awesome you’re covering this!! The world needs this. Makes me miss my business. We had tons of fun. The worst customers were the parents of little kids that were starting to play baseball. Lol.

My! How things have changed since I learned to sew! I remember about having to adjust tension. We just did it by feel.
The gauge is a time saver also, At least it keeps you from a lot of guesswork.

The tension on this machine has to be different when working with hats. Can you do a video regarding the tension and how much tighter it needs to be?
This sure beats hefting the machine into the back of an SUV, travelling to a city to get the machine serviced and lugging it back home a couple of weeks later. I have an older Brother PR650, and it falls out of tension if you sneeze next to it. I'm picking up a TOWA as soon as possible. I never knew these existed! Thanks for the information!

Sam, if you set your machine up on top of a piece of padded carpet it really works to quiet it down in your work area. I run mine upstairs that way, and in the room just below it, you can't hear it at all. Ricoma comes with a built in 15 color tension test.

Do you use the same tension for shirts and hats with this machine, or do you set it for each job? My machine is on the way, but I'm trying to get all the insider help I can to be prepared 💥👊🤓

It's roughly finished, but not totally done yet -- hence no video. It's honestly fallen behind on priority compared to launching my new local business and keeping up with other things around our home.

When setting your top tension, do you have the thread running through the needle as well?
Yes!! Completely as the machine has it.
What software would you recommend for someone just starting in embroidery and digitizing?
Hands down; Hatch. They’re the top software for users like myself and above, but have great affordability too!
Where did you find what your tension number should be. I bought the digital tension reading like u suggested, but I don’t know that the numbers should be for my machine
Thread and machine manufacturers will have their recommendations but you also need to test and walk them in.
Would it be too much toask for a threading pattern, I believe mine were threaded wrong b the company.

Sam- on this machine / how do you have it automatically complete the stitching without completing and restarting the stitching. I noticed if I step away it automatically continues to restitch until stopped
Sounds like you have the repeat function enabled somehow. I’m not at my machine to know exactly the term or screen it’s on though.
What kind of thread are you using in your smartstich?
I've been running the default thread, Maderia, & Candle thread in it to see any differences in performance. The jury is still out. :)

I can’t for the life of me get this to work. Seems that I need to loose and if I do loose. Then the knob will come off!
