I've been watching videos like this on how to start booktube for a bit (and that's why this one was recommended to me) and this one is the best I've seen so far because it's so validating in the real struggles of starting a channel. Honestly I too wish I had started sooner so definitely feel that "time game" concept. The first 500 subs are hard AF and you made me realize that I put a lot of expectations on myself and that's why sometimes I fall into the unmotivated trap. Yeah no one warns you how hard it is to start a CZcams channel and what you need to learn going in. For me I’ve also had to take it one step at a time and learn for myself, but it’s definitely helpful when CZcamsrs like you make videos giving advice and setting some expectations when you first start out. You're so right about just setting up your channel and eventually you just will make stuff - I made one vid in 2019 and then did *nothing* for 3 years before I finally got into doing videos kinda consistently. And also, honestly, I don’t like Song of Achilles too, in fact I rated it low because I expected so much because of the hype it got, but really I don’t get the hype. Another difficulty for me to overcome as well is that I would love to start a channel but talking in Spanish since I live in Mexico and unfortunately, reading culture in Mexico is soooooo much less that in the US, so your chances for someone to watch a video of yours are super low🥹

These were so helpful and I liked that a lot of your advice wasn't about how to build a following but dealing with the nervousness that comes with creating a channel. I would love to create a channel but am so nervous in front of the camera and worry about people from my life or people from high school or elementary school I haven't talked to in forever finding the channel. lol. Great video! I might start first with Bookstagram to test the waters then start a Booktube. Thanks for the inspo!

I’ve been wanting to start my own booktube channel, and making the youtube channel without worrying about whether to upload or not, just to kickstart everything actually sounds good. And also, honestly, I don’t like Song of Achilles too, in fact I rated it low because I expected so much because of the hype it got, but really I don’t get the hype.
