    if you press source + edit 1 you get smaller edit range for the sample start and end point. Like this you can do a finer adjustment.

    2nd drumloop is that "I'm lookin at the front door" track ;) btw, you propably know this already, but you can also isolate drumhits way faster, by just letting it play and then hit "loop" the moment your prefered sample appears. same with the endpoint. To undo the start/end point just hit the currently edit pad again. peace n thx for the good tut!

      What's going on King I finally received my zoom sampletrak and my zoom R8 sampler the other accompanying equipment that I have is the zoom sb-246 Street box and the motif 6 I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate all these pieces of equipment to make different recordings than what I've usually done my usual MO is to layout of beat on the street box then layer it on the track machine one track at a time playing the beat than the bass than keys or whatever affects. how do I incorporate the sampletrak? Any advice?

    • @kiofnc
      @kiofnc  Před 3 lety

      @@denniscampbell9376 Wow! You got some good gear there! There are a couple of ways you could go about it. The first thing I'm curious about is what Daw are you using? The second question would be are you using an interface to record your gear. I ask because depending on how you are tracking it you could layer tracks starting with the drums for timing. If you were using an audio interface with midi you could sync your gear to the DAW and record like that. With that said the zooms midi has a History of not being the best. Let me know what you are working with for DAW and interface and get back to me. I'll help you the best I can.

    big ups Ki' of NC!! this video has been incredibly helpful for me, pairs very well with the pdf tutorial for the sampletrak...im working on sampling records then porting the samples into my mpc renaissance, as i find the workflow on the ren to be superior...but nothing can touch the st-224 in terms of lo-fi!!!!!!!

    • @kiofnc
      @kiofnc  Před 8 lety +1

      +Hasset Bound I totally agree with you because I own the MPC Studio. Even though I am still learning the Studio it's simple one of the best samplers I've owned in modern times and I always keep the 224 around in case I want to make some quick lo fi dirty goodness though!

    • @iceeslunk
      @iceeslunk Před 8 lety

      +Ki' of NC right on! mpc workflow just clicks with me...but it's sad, samplers lost their character when they all went completely digital, makes everything sound sterilized...surprises me no company has tried to make a sampler that can sound like an sp-1200/other 12-bit samplers but with a modern workflow/capabilities (usb, for example)

    • @iceeslunk
      @iceeslunk Před 8 lety

      +rorz999 right?? especially considering that starting prices on ebay for a decent condition USED 12-bit sampler is usually around $1000...and an sp1200? shit, those are listing between $3-4000!!
      PROOF that there is a real demand for 12-bit samplers...and if a company could make one with updated tech like you said (usb, etc) they would sell like crazy! im half tempted to start a petition!

  • @N8oRMusic
    @N8oRMusic Před 2 měsíci

    NOt sure if anyone else mentioned this but when selecting START/END points of your samples you can make single increments by using the + and - buttons. You can also hold the + then the - to make increments going up by 10. By pressing - then the + you make increments going down 10. AND if you press the SPECIAL button while in START/END points you can increase or decrease by 100 (or maybe more, I'm not sure). This also benefits when using the mod wheel for tighter editing.

  • @vforvillain77
    @vforvillain77 Před 9 lety +4

    bro, great vid! I've been tryin to find this out about the sampletrak. Can you resample through external effects? like play a sample from it out the output, thru a pedal and back into the input? The problem on a lot of samplers is usually that it creates a feedback loop. Can this be done on sampletrak?

    • @kiofnc
      @kiofnc  Před 9 lety +3

      +vforvillain77 Yea you can do that villain. That's why I love it..its such a versatile little sampler. You can resample with the eternal effects without degrading the quality of the sample and the same can be done with external effects units if your wiring and loop/ground is done well. That's not something I do often, but I've definitely tried it before with no problems. A really dope feature of the sampletrak is that you can actually run outboard effects through it and change them in real time with the eternal effects. Endless possibilities! I see now that I am going to have to do a follow up video to explore these options.

    • @vforvillain77
      @vforvillain77 Před 9 lety

      Yeah man! Can you go into how to resample thru external effects? I'm thinking that you'll have to pan the sample pad, say, hard right and then bring the input back in on the left channel so it won't feedback...BUT if you sample the sound coming back in in mono maybe it will feedback anyway because it sums to mono? sending it back out both the left and right outs? (Maybe right and left need to be reversed? i dont know, im just throwing this stuff out there) Anyway maybe the input would have to sampled in stereo so the new samples' left channel is quiet....problem is you'd have half a stereo sample....if so, THEN internally resample the stereo sample into a mono one (assuming that resampling in mono will sum the stereo sample to mono, instead of just record the left side) Lemmie know and lemmie know if you make a vid, I d love to see one!

      No. the knob jumps huge numbers all the time. The two tricks around this is to alternate between the start and end points. Example. Adjust the start point to as close as you want it on the chosen sample then switch to end sample and adjust it. Keep repeating this process until the sample its tight. ALTERNATIVELY you can use the trick I teach on the part two video with the LOOP/MARK button. Tap it as soon as you hear the part of the sample you want to start from. Check the video for more details.

    picked one of these up a few months ago and i love it! i had a question about editing start and end points though-the wheel seems to be real sensitive when scrolling and i've been having trouble editing the start and end points of 2-4 bar drum breaks-it either cuts off too early or too late. any tips for being able to make clean edits?

      Another trick is to detune ur drum break which makes it easier to hit the exact spot u need w/ the loop button. Then after u get your loop running clean tune it up to normal or wherever u need it

    Not to sound like a hater, but these things SUCK when it comes to tracking your beat out into your DAW. Volume comes out very low even when using the output gain switch. Think twice before getting one of these!! i highly reccomend a sp 404!

    I'm new to this so my question might be phrased wrong, or very simple.
    How would I record a sample on to the ST-224 if I didn't have a phono plug running from a mixer into the ST-224. Let's say I had something playing from youtube on a set of speakers, and I wanted to record it on the sampletrak? How would I do that?

    • @kiofnc
      @kiofnc  Před 7 lety +1

      My question to you is what is powering your speakers? Whatever is powering the speakers is your sample source. Sounds like you are using a computer and If you had audio coming from a computer you could actually run an 3.5mm jack from the PC audio out to a 1/4 phono jack into the sampletrak. You would have to adjust the volume of the signal to avoid distortion, but this would definitely work. By the info you are giving me it sounds like you need this cable to sample. tinyurl.com/pjdpo6b

    • @kiofnc
      @kiofnc  Před 8 lety +1

      You should be able to run a tape deck in no problem! It would have to from stereo RCA to a single phono cable. Then run the output sound to the Guitar Amp. That way you can sample into the deck and hear everything without a feedback loop. Check my 2nd sampletrak tutorial video out. Im pretty much doing what your describing in that video by running a keyboard to sample into the sampletrak and running my sound output to my focusrite interface for playback.
