@Mayara & Omar & Friends Are you using a hard drive instead of an SSD by any chance? That may be why your device is so slow. If you switch to an SSD it should be much faster.
From what I can tell you have a 4th gen i3, so if you have at least 4gb of ram it should work fine if you've got an SSD. The integrated GPU is indeed crap and you can't do anything about it though.

Also, which SSD bracket do you recommend for older IDE hard drives? I have a few IDE hard drives that I might want to convert to SSD so it might come in useful to buy some laptop IDE to SSD converters (better than picking up used IDE hard drives, and IDE to SATA will not fit).

What a hell of a coincidence! I just picked up an HP nx9110 and it's basically the same laptop, just with a different paint job. It's in absolutely fantastic condition for such an old system- literally everything on it works, including the battery! And unlike a lot of similar systems from the era, it seems to do a pretty solid job of keeping itself cool even under load without too much noise. It's a surprisingly nice computer and I like it a lot.

I had this exact same laptop as a kid. Pretty sure it was filled with malware from me downloading free games. Seemed to run the pre installed games fine, but i couldnt get any of the virus ones to actually work

Looks nice for 2004 standards. Probably a good number of ports for expansion.

I miss the days where you had access panels on the back for changing SSD and RAM etc

Back in the days, I once repaired a laptop from a customer which had a 3.5 inch hard drive internally from the factory. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the laptop and can't find anything about it on the internet, but this thing was massive and heavy and got almost 100 ° C under load. maybe someone of you knows it and and and hopefully one day we can see it here 😃 it was around 2010 but the laptop was a few years older maybe ~2005-2008

I like how they make black parts of the vessels that have curved edges cause they don't have the technology

My dad had one of these. I have a memory of me using it when i wasn't supposed to, accidently moving somethings position in the Windows XP Quick access, not knowing how i did it and absolutely panicking that he was going to find out.

These machines are very similar to the HP ZV/ZX5000 laptops. There were Intel/ATI and AMD/Nvidia versions of both these Compaq machines and the HP machines too. The Intel versions of the HP ZV5000 laptops would have the Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP in them. The ZX version, however were far different. They would come with either a 64MB Radeon 9200 or a 64MB Radeon 9600 or if you were really wanting some power, you could also get them with a 128MB Radeon 9600. I believe the highest GPU the Intel Compaq R3000s got was the 64MB Radeon 9200. I have the recovery discs for the ZV/ZX5000. I'm not sure if they would work on the Compaq machines though. And yes, that 2nd fan only runs when the CPU gets hot enough.
