- In this video we will see how to make adhirasam recipe in Tamil.Adhirasam / Athirasam is a traditional sweet recipe distributed to friends during the festival of diwali. One major problem beginners face when making this adhirasam is that it often disintegrates in oil. In order to get perfect adhirasam we have to choose the right rice type and the correct consistency of the batter. The next step is the temperature of the oil. Once you get these conditions right you will realize that making adhirasam is not that difficult. Nowadays we can get this sweet at shops but it is often stale and nothing can come close to the taste of fresh homemade adhirasam.

I’m in the US and we get idli rice (no brand, just packaged in zip lock bags) that looks like the thick rice you showed in the beginning, is that the rice that’s needed for this or sona masoori? Also, the frying pan you used, did you buy that in the US? Looks like a cast iron one and I have been looking for one.

I have seen so many of the adiresam video, none of the mentioned about the rice by showing the difference between the fat and the thin one. I made using thin rice, tried two times, it did not come at all.
