Its wild to think that this early acces of deadlock looks so clean, being no even close to be fully finished it works and feels so good to play already.
People who call this dead on arrival forgot how good Valve is at making video games.
@@ruzgar1372 And you forgot how Artifact crashed and burned. This doesn't mean that the same will happen to Deadlock, you just shouldn't consider Valve to be some sort of demi-God when it comes to game development.

There's no skins, an actual real ranked system, or any sort of progression atm yet me and my friendgroup still play almost every night. I see a lot of familiar players too.
I have around 200 games and it has the same problem as dota 2 , there are characters that jusr press 1 button and win , others need to execute hard skillshots to do 10% more dmg but no human can hit 90%+

@@saiesa4021 I'm only ancient despite only playing since 2012 and its clearly bad for the game that there are characters that are too easy to play with , the floor on heroes like phantom assassin or juggernaut is so high that patches when noob friendly heroes are strong the game is boring as fuck , not to talk about the fact icefrog balance normally is nerf position 3 and 5s and buff position 2 and 4s , and some midlaners that were hard like shadow fiend get so many buffs they basically require way less skill to play properly despite hacing more power because they are high skill hero's , shadow diend ultimate is a better disable than ravage somehow while tidehunter has the same power since 2012 despite all the power creep in carries

I also just received an invitation, that's strange, my graphics card is pretty bad, which I've already stated in Steam surveys. Also, I don't play shooting games. I think the invitations are distributed by the bucket and not based on who has a good system or who likes to play these types of games.

i would say deadlock is already in its public beta lol, it’s harder to *not* get an invite at the rate the game’s growing
ive only had a pc for 3 years, started with valorant and quickly moved to CS, safe to say i may or may not be a Deadlock player. i only have 12 hours in the playtest but its taking the CS addiction away fast.

Deadlock is good game at this moment but it has balance problems
Really fun, but I can see it dying , it doesn’t have that “special thing”, it is overall a really good game but that’s it, and I’ve seen a lot of really good games not making it.
Same, but I'd argue it does have that special thing... it's dota, which has lasted for like 20 years. I just think the problem is that people that play shooters aren't interested in dota mechanics.

The only thing going for it is being a shooter and having less active items, Valorant made it by being CS but easier with trendy abilities, Deadlock KINDA looks like that, but many games have failed with the same strategy, is DL going to be a Valorant or just another of those games? Time will tell.

I think a good question is: who is the audience for Deadlock? MOBAs are, for the most, past their prime. They're not dead by any means but they're not the new hot thing they used to be. Even one of League's senior devs recently mentioned that their player-base is aging with fewer newbies jumping in. The same can be said for DOTA 2: it's most likely frequented by people who probably got into it during high school back in the mid 2010s.
Furthermore, I doubt there's much overlap in the player-bases of Valve's games, like, I don't think CS2 and TF2 players will be the ones jumping en-masse to try this game. In addition, your average consumer has already seen different takes on the MOBA/Hero shooter genre for the past decade so your general audience is also less likely to care about the concept, even if it is good.
And that's the main issue here - Valve sees this as their next cash-cow project with an item/skin economy and a competitive league. But, if it doesn't meet their astronomical expectations, I wouldn't doubt that they would just cut their losses.
I think it being a shooter versus top down gameplay will make a big difference. That plus it being new and thus not having as much baggage will likely entice new players. Im pretty hooked and I dont really like Mobas. I played league like a decade ago on and off for a few years. Tried to jump in recently and couldn't stand tbe long waits and longer matches on top of the toxicity and emense learning curve. Most adults dont have the time for games that take dozens of hours just to be competent on top of 45min+ matches.
With a smaller roster, deadlock is perfect to jump into and the shooter gameplay is much more engaging imo. Matches are also shorter. I think i had one go around 30 mins but most are 20 or less. Perfect for the kind of quick sessions needed to get more people playing.

Honestly i dont really like mobas much. Only ever really played LoL years ago. But im pretty hooked on deadlock and imo it being a shooter makes it a lot more engaging to me than the top down style of other mobas. Also having player created and ranked builds built into deadlocks item menus solves my biggest personal reason for disliking mobas. To be fair its been so long so maybe even leauge already did that but its nice to see it as a feature even so early in development.

unfortunately unless they use a kernel lvl anti-cheat like in val and lol it would be infested with cheats as soon as it drops like cs and tf2.
No serious security expert endoreses the need to kernel anti cheat , only people who believe that are riot games fans who got lied to its not more effective and its just against costumers

HL3 In theory is being developed, Portal 3 is useless as existance until HL3 releases, L4D3 was cancelled because of CS:GO Danger Zone and Source 2 being too new at the time, and TF3 idk tbh, I'm sure Valve is too lazy to port every single cosmetic to the game

More like Mehlock. Jokes aside it plays well but offers almost nothing new to the customer. It's an overwatch style shooter with dota mechanics. It doesn't seem to have that Valve innovative wow factor.

People in the closed playtest can invite anyone on their friends list. If you see someone on your friends list playing it just ask them, they can invite any number of people and you normally get access in like 30 mins.

As a dota 2 player and apex player, honestly I feel like dead lock is pretty behind, if it was released like 8 years ago maybe but the game just feels boring compared to other titles, the objectives are slow and characters feel underwhelming

Dota alone is more complex than Lol. It's Dota x Overwatch and comedic cartoon vibe from TF2, rail system in Bioshock Infinite. Lol has no place to be mention here
To everyone discussing this, as someone who's played over 6K hours of dota, deadlock is dota redesigned as a shooter. Not just ported but redesigned, there's new stuff like the movement system.
If you don't like mobas I don't think there's any chance you will like deadlock, it's a moba first. No point comparing it to overwatch, valorant, cs, etc... it's dota as a shooter. Yes there are headshots, but that doesn't make it cs/valorant.

@ZALYVES mobas are past their prime and deadlock feels especially generic and bland, there's nothing in the game that's mindblowing and has none of the charm the previous valve games had. it's unannounced so they could still turn things around but it seems unlikely

I have 60 hours in and its super fan there is nothing bland about how it plays. The mindblowing part is its 3rd person and it is able to incorporate dotas elements into it with a very good formula. Denying, farming camps, item builds and temfighting. And what previous Valve games are you talking about? Half-life? left4dead? TF2? Portal? Dota 2? Sounds like another gatekeeping boomer who thinks Valve should only cater to the games they only know how to play. I played every valve game and enjoyed every bit of it including dota 2. Maybe play other games other than old school shooter. THank god Valve doesn't limit itself to outdated game mechanics like linear shooters.
