    I’d say I’m definitely a feel guy. I only ever use one layout so that I can see the different reactions from the same hand/core position to know where in my bay the ball belongs. I will say this though, I’m finding myself liking solids over pearls and hybrids more and more.

    I have been throwing this ball for 2 weeks now on a house shot and I am loving it. My thoughts were the same exact as yours. I like my gem, but MAYBE for 1 game then I am having to move. The eternity is fantastic in that I can use it for that first game straighter up but when I start moving left it just keeps coming so it is a lot more versatile.

    A bit of both. I take a look at the numbers, and then I watch ball videos to see what the standard motion looks like. Once I get it, I tell my pro shop guy what I want the ball to do, and he has always taken care of me. My arsenal is fairly solid because of this; I have a few balls for straight, a few balls for angles, and a few Jacks of All Trades but Masters of None.

    7:09 I was actually looking at the eternity Pi because I'm finally getting rid of my Proton Physix. I switched to 2 finger had the ball plugged and re drilled, they drilled it in the wrong spot and it just wouldn't do anything for me it just went straight unless I went directly up the back. had it plugged and redrilled again and now it's in the correct spot but my speed is way higher cause even though it's plugged the weight dropped by like a pound.
    Edit: by the time I had my proton Physix drilled for 2 finger right had already been bowling 2 finger for a couple months in my free time and had all my other equipment at 2 finger

    For me I don't deal with the numbers but look for a certain ball reaction. I'd see how it reacts for others before drilling a ball up. If I'm one of the first ones drilling a new ball I'll go with feedback from my ball driller for his suggestions.

    Both numbers and feel. I use the numbers to find out the intended play style. But I can't get the needed feedback without actually throwing it. However, I should also say, I haven't bowled in situations where a large arsenal is needed.

    i look at numbers first because it gives a general idea of the ball strength. lower rg earlier hook, lower diff lower hook potential, and vice versa. then i look at ball reviews to how it stacks up in the lineup of balls.

    • @notonyourlife7939
      @notonyourlife7939 Před 10 měsíci

      The numbers can easily lead you astray, though... because they only tell you about the core, and the cover's impact is huge. Right now I'm throwing the Dark Web Hybrid and Knock Out Bruiser a lot. On paper, the Knock Out should be earlier, and hook a couple of more boards than the DW Hybrid, but it's exactly the opposite. Same layout, and I keep both surfaces at 3K... the Web's cover is considerably stronger and earlier, despite being a hybrid. At this point there are so many pieces to the puzzle that it's really tricky to figure out what any ball is gonna do, till you actually get it in your hands.

    to answer that question i guess i am a feel guy, i wish i understood the numbers better but i just dont. i watch videos on explanations of numbers and i still dont understand. i also dont know my numbers like tilt, rotation, axis, pap, rpm, speed. i have general idea im a 350ish rpm at 15-17-mph.(lefty) my pro shop guy doesnt watch you bowl, he looks at your equipment uses like baseline drills and is usually ok. if i wanna step up my game past a 190-200 bowler im gonna have to figure out my numbers.

    Could you guys throw the clone VS. Exotic gem

  • @the_crusty_ledge
    @the_crusty_ledge Před 10 měsíci

    I think you have to be both a numbers guy and feel bowler. First, you need to know the numbers to understand the design behind the ball and the type of physics involved with the "engine" core, not to mention how that aligns with the coverstock. Then , Feel comes in. Numbers gives you a general idea and the feel is where you can fine tune how it works in your game and your conditions. Knowing the numbers can greatly expedite the feel out process, and help limit imaginary expectation. If the numbers don't support a big down lane snap, you can pretty much eliminate that possibility when preparing to bowl with that ball. The numbers can also help you realize you might be rolling that ball in the wrong zone ie. low RG, playing to straight, ball just isn't hooking much. . well, the ball is burning out early, you have to move much further left to get the ball to skid, hook, and roll in the right areas front to back.
