I like the video and the tank...... also i like the kitty!
@kurtrussell5228 Thanks!
You can make a lot of boiling hot water with large stock pots. I never felt any guilt filling my tub with a lot of water and dumping in enough hot for a good soak after a day of working in the wood lot. The standard joke at the cabin was, "I have running hot water, it runs on two legs." Being serious, that is a great tent stove and I see that you could use more than one factory-made water tank if you chose to do so. That setup may work well in a pickup truck or van camper. I have seen a few videos from folks who are hardcore enough to do it.
Agreed. I have some ideas for improvements just have to find time to try them out. I am looking at building a more in depth camper and using this wood stove in the fall and winter in it. I would like to have a 5-gallon tank for hot water and a system to circulate that hot water to and from this stove. but so far its all just dreams. Thanks for the comments and views I really enjoy your insight.
Great review, just the info I was looking for, thanks. Got mine ordered. Do you think if the stove wasn’t running so hot it might just simmer or would always end up on a rolling boil but just take longer to get there?
@dkjngl1 Glad you found it useful.
Good question.
Ok if you left it on top of the wood stove then no matter how dampened down the fire is it would boil. There is a lot of heat in the back of the stove and around that stove pipe.
I have some more testing to do so I will do an experiment for you. I will fill the water tank with tap water and hang it on the side of the stove and see how long it takes to get boiling on high heat and dampened down. Or see what I need to do to get a simmer. I'm thinking that on the side of the stove dampened down should simmer. But we will see.
Weather and my schedule permitting should know by the end of this weekend. Hope you stick around.
Ok I did a burn today with the tank on the side of the stove. The air was only half opened the damper was at a 45 degree setting so 3/4 closed. This is how I set the stove when I settle down for the night. In one hour the water went from 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 160 Fahrenheit range. All I had time for was the 1 hour test. If I get a chance I will do a longer test. Hope this info helps you out.
That's very useful thank you. I like the idea of hot water for washing etc being available without having to remove the tank to stop it boiling over. Seems the side position might be perfect for this purpose. Thanks for checking it out, much appreciated. @@charlesartificer2158
@@dkjngl1 no problem at all. I'm actually playing around with some more mods where this water tank is concerned. So keep your eyes out they'll be some more videos coming lots of ideas flowing through my mad mind. Have a good night.
I'm buying one because you made me laugh by saying bubble action
@wdr3526 maybe I should trade mark that line lol
