  • Big Ambitions continues and, finally, we're able to open up our new hairdressing salon, Big B's Bobs&Braids!
Granted, it still does take a while, and there is a lot, and I mean A LOT, of faffing about with getting the staff scheduled to cover all of the different shifts, but we get there in the end! Just settle in and prepare for some lengthy admin action...
Away from the admin, Bernard takes the opportunity to add a speaker to our hairdressing place and also he moves the drinks fridges into the main bit of the store, rather than in the back room, so our customers can grab themselves a zesty drink.
Also we add more desks to HQ, we automate delivery of hair products and Bernard goes to the park again.
NOTE: This is the early access version of the game.

Your bank balance is tiny, but your ambitions are big.
With a little help from your uncle, you get an apartment and your first job. But then it's up to you to achieve success and take over New York City any way you like.
Slowly build multiple small businesses, grow them into huge corporations, or carve your own unique path - the possibilities are limitless in this vast business sandbox. You've never played anything like this!
Go from a small apartment and public transport to luxury suites, fast cars and designer furniture. Put your money into investment funds and real estate. Succeed, fail, rebuild. But remember to take care of yourself, sleep and stay happy on your rise to the top.
Go from nothing to the most prominent tycoon in New York. Start a business, work smart, make it thrive and enjoy your life. How do you want to be successful? How far can you push it? How long can you make it last?
Start your own gift shop, supermarket, coffee shop, law firm, clothing store, liquor store, florist, and more. You decide what success is - whether it’s a single shop, a chain of fast-food restaurants, a huge corporation, or making millions developing websites.
Take out a loan, rent a building, design the logo, renovate the store, get stock, manage your money, hire staff, and build your infrastructure. Soon, you may have to start importing products from the harbour and distributing them through a network of warehouses.
A bigger business means managers. Hire HR Managers, Logistics Managers, and Purchasing Agents. They all need desks and computers, so you’ll need a fancy headquarters.
Need a delivery truck? Travel to a dealer and buy one. Need food? Go to a supermarket, but make sure you have a refrigerator at home. Big Ambitions is a life sim where your character has to physically interact with the world to survive and succeed.
Enter any building in New York and buy it. Go from a small apartment to a dream penthouse in midtown, a luxurious townhouse in Hell’s Kitchen, or a series of skyscrapers. Fill each with furniture that suits your style and standing. Invest your hard-earned cash in real estate to grow your empire. Take over the city piece by piece.
Spend your wealth however you wish. Buy a big SUV, a speedy sports car, or the new luxurious Mersaidi S500. Maybe risk it all at the casinos or put your money into investment funds and reap the rewards.
As you progress, you always need to ensure you get enough sleep and stay healthy and happy. Enjoy the journey, for as you grow older, you’ll discover that money can’t buy you time... or can it?

Problem solving to fill in the worker shift requirements seems like the part of this game I'd love - much more than clicking every day to remind my person to read their magical book again 😂

What you must do when you don’t have anything to do is go to the gym, explore it and workout on the various equipment

Skilled people always have demands. For highly skilled it is full/part time plus two additional ones. If you disallow any possible demands, it's impossible to find any. You should have allowed no nightshifts, because that's also ok for you. And also environment demands are no problem, they just want it clean, as you do, and they want it peaceful, which means their boss needs to be happy.

I've never had any problem finding people with no demands of not working at certain times, it just takes a little longer to find enough people

Another way to save time and money opening a new business.
Go look at your rivals to see if they have a business that are losing money, go buy that business, you'll probably pay less than it cost to setup yourself.
Getting the business turned around to making profit is quite easy (Some of your rivals are even worse businessmen than you are lol)
Only downside is you won't be able to choose what and where to open the business

  • @DonGorgen
    @DonGorgen Před měsícem

When you hire people, first thing you need to do is not hire anyone that won't work at certain times and no 4 or 5 days a week stuff, like you already figured out (removing all that stuff is exactly 100 points for the headhunter)
The way I do it in my stores that are open 24/7, I hire 7 people for every 2 position.
Set them up from 0 to 7, 7 to 14, 14 to 21 and 21 to 24 in one position.
    0 to 3, 3 to 10, 10 to17 and 17 to 24 in the other.
Those 2 short 3hr shifts will be the same person switching station halfway through their shift.
That give you 6 people working 7 hrs a day total 49 hrs a week and 1 guy working 6 hrs a day 42 per week.

Since the hair salon already have a high traffic index you may not need that much marketing. You are at 100% promotion.
Try to deactivate the internet campaign to see if it drop below 100%, you may only need a small or medium campaign.
If you go to the marketing tab for each business you can deactivate marketing without canceling the contract, to figure out what you actually need.

The auto-fill works well enough on very simple tasks like filling up HQ desks. But for anything more complex, it does a terrible job and it's supposed to be much better than that. Hopefully the next big patch (which has a focus on fixing UI/UX) will fix that. But that brings Big Ambition's big problem into sharper focus. There almost isn't a point to having your character in the game once you have your Headquarters and Warehouse set up, and you can call up everyone you need to. I guess you could pass the time working at El Gato's or one of your own businesses for some extra pocket money, but that feels rather pointless to me. Once you have a few businesses that are earning good money, the game loop does start to get tedious and they have to introduce something new to keep things interesting. But it shouldn't be about making more money, because past a certain point that just becomes another number.
BTW, if you have full time staff working 7 days a week, I find you can put them to work between five and seven hours per day and they are happy with that. Offices get few customers over the weekend, and I find that the cost of wages exceeds the income you get from that so it's a bad idea to have them open then. On the other hand, wages in retail stores are relatively low so operating them 24/7 usually gives the most profit.

When you assign people to the HR manager you don't have to click everyone individually. Just use the fill button, and if the Hr manager is full you just go to ne next one to fill in the rest

@@TheGeekCupboard Really? That's weird, in my game I need to pay taxes every 60 days (1yr).
Was there some difficulty settings in the beginning maybe that I don't remember or noticed.

    • @TheGeekCupboard
      @TheGeekCupboard  Před měsícem

I'm not sure. Nothing has appeared saying I need to go and pay anything. I don't think I had any specific setting to turn it off. Maybe it knows I'm a Brit so it sorts my taxes out for me!
