Some say with a modern star chart, When Jupiter known as the king planet overshadowed the star regulus in the constellation of Leo, Sept. 11, 3 B.C. Rosh-Hashanah. Tishri 1, the first day of every new Davidic King. Makes much more sense to me. Leo represents the lion the tribe of Judah. Virgo right below with the sun and moon at her feet.

      Or Astronomers.
But they knew Hebraic prophesies and the Mazzeroth. See Job.

We know the Magi were not Jews. There were no Christians yet so did they have a religion ? If so what was it?

Remember that though God spoke and chose Israel, there were people outside Israel who knew God. For example, Melchizedek was a priest to God and he was not with Abraham and he was beloved by God. In the time of Moses, the Bible said whoever Baalam blessed was blessed and whoever he cursed was cursed. In Numbers 22-24 Baalam, a gentile man gives prophecy about Israel and have God appearing to him. So, it is likely that there were people around Israel who believed in God. In the Book of Jonah, the Bible says the men on the boat with Jonah made covenants with God after God stopped the storm after Jonah jumped off into the sea. So, there may have likely been people around Israel who knew God but were not Israeli.
Also, remember that the children of Israel were brought to Babylon in the time of Daniel. And due to what Daniel did, the Bible says he was made the head of the magicians, astrologers, astronomers and the wise men. So, it is also likely that Daniel could have taught them about God and teach them about the prophecy of Jesus. Remember Daniel was the head of these wise men so though they were wise, Daniel must have been way smarter. I’m the book of Daniel, God spoke of Daniel as one of the wisest man on earth. So, Daniel and the 3 Hebrew boys could have inspired them

Or maybe they were Zoroastrian. Which is what I think. Which raises the question what did Zoroastrians have to do with all this?

Maybe they were LGBT militants coming to liberate all the '' FUNNY'' people in Israel at that time.
