Is smoking allowed on a cruise ship? Yes, but in designated areas only. This video describes how to locate the smoking areas so that a person can use them or AVOID them.

So glad this helped. One thing I did not cover was that sometime when ships go into port the have a refueling process (they call it bunkering) during that time no smoking will be allowed outside on one or both sides of the ship for safety reasons.

Shirley - Thank you - very informative! However, I have one question: Due to our late booking, we are in cabin 6134 which is above Deck 5, home to a designated smoking area. Cabin 6134 is located after the stair case above the theatre. Do you know if the designated smoking area is directly under cabin 6134? Thanks!

You should be fine. The smoking section is closer to the mid-aft elevators a pretty good distance away from your cabin , and when you are sailing, the breeze will take that smoke even farther.

As a smoking cruiser, we are well aware of the rules. These vary by cruise line and ship. We don't want to offend anyone with our OUTDOOR smoking in rain and bad weather! Of course, I paid for my cruise the same as you.

I apologize if I offended. I certainly did not mean to come across that way. I intended to just be factual as I think many people smoke and want to know where they can smoke onboard, and this video spoke specifically to the Odyssey of the Seas. There are other people who have asthma or are highly sensitive to smoke or just don't like it, and if they know where the smoking areas are, they can avoid them by not booking a balcony near a smoking area or by planning an alternate route around it.
