Been running shears in the scrap recycling industry for 15 years. That is very impressive to see such thick steel get cut.

1:21 it’s so awesome how the water hammer in the lines make the hydraulic hoses move

Only for the construction site, much too slow and too expensive for mass scrap production but an impressive machine.

@3:05, really smart how the operator keeps the tip just to say shut, so the metal drops down for a second bite without dropping to the floor. do these type of huge shears become less efficient when the cutting edges get nicked and blunted? Do they need replacing every week?

Thanks for your interest in Genesis Attachments.
Proper maintenance of the cutting blades is required for optimal performance.
Blade rotation extends blade life and improves cutting. Shimming to maintain blade tolerances helps prevent jamming. How often the blades need to be replaced depends on factors including what material is being cut, how many hours per day/week the shear is operating, and how well the blades are maintained.
