      Thats a long ride through the states. I'm planning to cycle the same way to S.F. in 2025. I'm looking forward to your videos. @@anseladventures

    Nice section. I took Adventure Cycling’s Leadership class in Missoula for a coast to coast ride. I’ve since decided to scrap that and go alone unless I find a riding partner. 👍☮️🌞🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️🚴❤️

      Have a good tour once your shoulder heals. There is nothing like getting out on the road on a bike tour. Safe Travels

    Note to self: always take a spare tube or three in each size used for these longer trips that are planned.

    Loving your trip vids.
    It bought back a lot of memories for me seeing Montana. The last time i was there was in 1994, living in a car for 9 weeks seeing as much of the U.S as possible.
    I am Curious, i expect you've been asked this before. Why go west to East, not East to West ?

      Gary, We live on the west coast and we took the train to Seattle to start the tour. We knew the climbing would be in the first part of the tour and wanted to experience that. early. We also have relatives and friends in the east that we visited with for some extended time after finishing. When we finished the tour, we rented a mini van and took 3 1/2 weeks to drive home while doing more sightseeing.

    To bad you were not able to ride Going to the Sun Road. Bikes have their own time a day to ride with no cars.

    That uphill climb on Chief Joseph looked brutal!! Thanks for sharing. What kind of helmet camera are you guys using? Quality is really great.

    • @kevinansel8034
      @kevinansel8034 Před rokem

      Hi Backpack Bros - Thank you for watching our latest adventure video. Chief Joseph Pass was scenic and challenging with fully loaded panniers. We loved it. The helmet camera is the Insta Go2. This is the first long trip we used it on. It is small, light weight, versatile with lots of memory, the battery lasts a long time, and charges quickly too. The color and image stabilization are excellent as well. Mounting it on the bill of your helmet makes it quick and easy to get footage on the fly. My biggest complaint is the wind noise...it's terrible. I also use a Go Pro with a Wind Slayer (foam cover from Amazon) and that works really well. I have no complaints about the video quality, color, or wind noise. It takes more time to get it out of the handlebar bag, turned on....etc. etc. In the future, I would use the Insta Go2 for scenic shots where you could mute the noise or for those quick shots. The Go Pro, with the Wind Slayer, will be my 'Go-to' camera for action shots and narrating. Let me know if you have any other questions or comments. Be sure to check our Blog at www.anseladventures.com or other videos on the Ansel Adventures CZcams channel. Safe travels and Get Out There!

    Did you at least see Old Faithful go off?

    • @anseladventures
      @anseladventures  Před rokem

      We did not see Old Faithful on this trip. We went though Yellowstone just a couple days after it reopened after the flood. We exited on the eastern side of the park, which was spectacular. But, we did see Old Faithful in 2016 when we rode cross country via the Trans America route.

    Nice. I rode the Northern Tier route. Funny how MT shoulders are two feet wide in one county, then five feet wide in the next county you cross. Maddening how sometimes a two foot shoulder has a rumble strip down the middle which forces cyclists onto the road. Every county in the U.S. either receives or neglects to request Federal grant money from the NHTSA for rumble strips. According to a director at the NHTSA rumble strips save drivers lives. To which I inquired how many cyclists get injured, or killed? No response.

    • @anseladventures
      @anseladventures  Před rokem +1

      Yes the rumble strips continue to be an issue. We encountered them all the way across the country. Safe Travels - Best, Kevin / Ansel Adventures

      I like the eight inch shoulder with a rumble strip. It makes the ride more exciting and since I have to ride in the road because of the strip I get to play Russian roulette with the cars.😮

    • @Mike-vd2qt
      @Mike-vd2qt Před rokem

      @@jasonfitzpatrick414 Safe travels. The Rumble Strips have made ACA routes in some areas like the Southern Tier dangerous. Alabama, Louisiana, FL really bad.
